Volney P. Ludlow of Oakland California aged 88 sends a brief life sketch from his brother in law Thos. Glascock. He recalls being born in Fountain county before its 1825 creation, serving in the Mexican War era, and living in Millcreek township for 38 years as constable and trustee. He moved to California in 1836 and plans to chronicle early county days.

Small Pox Quarantine Expanded in Fountain
Health Commissioner Dr. C C Wert investigated two smallpox cases in Fountain last week. Silas Corey in his seventies suffers a severe infection while his son in law Harry Rector has a light case. Pleasant Gathering at Starns Home Near Wallace
A large family gathering occurred June 1 1913 at the country home of Mr and Mrs John Starns three miles southwest of Wallace. Relatives brought baskets of provisions and a noon dinner under apple trees followed by music from Parvin McGinnis and a supper of tempting dishes. Sun Overheat Near-Death Incident in Harveysburg
Mrs. Liota Thomas of Harveysburg nearly died after overheating while plowing in her garden last Saturday. She fainted on reaching the house, was revived with ice and attended by Mrs. Fred Starkey, Mrs. Martha Bales, and foster son Vern Thomas, with medical help arriving as she recovered.
