Charley White Struck Dead by Lightning Near Yeddo

Charles William White, a Kingman High School graduate and promising student, was instantly killed by a bolt of lightning Sunday evening while helping repair a hog fence near his parents home two miles east of Yeddo. The obituary notes his leadership in school and church affairs and his plans to attend Purdue University this fall. The tragedy left the White family and community in deep grief as details of the accident were recounted by his father.

Obituary: Charles William White died at age 18 in 1913

Charles William White, son of James B. and Annie B. White, born December 12, 1894, died June 15, 1913 near his home. He joined Centennial U B Church at 7, was baptized at 9, reconsecrated last winter, and recently graduated with honors from Kigman High School. He leaves parents, four sisters, two grandmothers, and many relatives. Funeral June 17, 1913, at Centennial Church conducted by Rev. J. M. Tuggle, with interment in the nearby cemetery.

Children's Day Observed at U B Church Program Delights Crowd

The U B Sunday school staged a large Children’s Day program last Sunday filling the church to capacity. Floral decorations and crepe paper created a beautiful setting as nearly every class contributed songs and drills marking a well executed observance.

Atha Weaver Seen Down Town In Wheelchair

Atha Weaver, confined to his room for about eight weeks, was brought downtown in a wheelchair last Saturday night. He is believed to be suffering from sciatic rheumatism but shows marked improvement, pleasing the 1:13 graduating class and the Saturday night crowd.

Miss Stella Keller wed Mr. Ott Norman at the Keller home in Judson, with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ephlin of Kingman present. The bride, a Kingman native and 1912 Kingman High School graduate, becomes the wife of a prosperous farmer. Kingman and Vicinity extends best wishes for happiness.

Destructive Sunday Storm Hits Veedersburg Area

A fierce electric storm swept through the region Sunday afternoon causing property and livestock damage. Lightning struck near Harveysburg, knocking Mrs. Victor Moore unconscious briefly. a mare and its colt owned by Wm. Dark died under an ash tree. a silo at Henry Paschal’s barn was toppled and later torn down.

County Commencement Held At Covington Fairgrounds

In Covington the third annual Fountain County eighth grade commencement drew a large crowd at the fair grounds.
