Elderly husband attempts suicide after wife's death
Johnson Furr aged seventy six and father of Albert Furr of this place tried to hang himself at his Steam Corner home last Friday after wife died at 9 30 that morning. A rope had been hidden earlier as he threatened self harm. Grandson spotted the hanging and rescuers lowered him, Dr Cuthbert attended, and he survived. Funeral arrangements and relatives listed.

15000 Bass Shipment To Coal Creek Draws Interest
A consignment of 15000 bass was shipped to W. H. McCord for Coal Creek this week. Three thousand are large mouth and twelve thousand small mouth bass. The shipment, from Eugene Shireman fish commissioner, stirred interest among anglers in Veedersburg.

Minister Arrested on Larceny Charge in Kingman
Rev. B. F. Clifton, pastor of the local M. E. church, was arrested in Covington on a petit larceny count for allegedly stealing two presto lite tanks. Authorities say he bought tanks in Crawfordsville and an attempt to return one tank to Veedersburg owner was noted. Clifton denied charges and was released on bond. neighbors describe him as a respected pastor and the town mourns the upcoming wedding he was to have with Miss Olcie Hesler.

Robert Thomas is convicted of manslaughter in the slaying of Pleasant Delp. Judge B S Aikman imposes a 2 to 21 year term at Jeffersonville prison, and Thomas begins serving immediately. Jury deliberated about twenty two hours with varying ballots before reaching the verdict.

Cayuga Foreman Shot in Danville Saloon
John Dillman a 50 year old Cayuga section foreman for the C&EI railroad was shot and killed in a Danville saloon shortly after 7 30 p m last Friday. John Hoskins manager of the saloon residing in South Danville is held as the slayer. Hoskins says Dillman insulted his wife. Dillman survived by a Cayuga widow and four children. Hoskins has four children.
