Last year Mr Totten the magician returns with an all new program to be presented at the opera house Monday evening under high school auspices. General admission is 25 cents for adults and 15 cents for children with proceeds to help offset the regular lecture course deficit caused by bad weather.

Seven miners perished in an early Monday explosion at Deering mine No 7, near Clinton, caused likely by pocket gas ignited by a miner's lamp and nearby powder. Two hundred workers were present. many others injured, and a sorrowful crowd gathered as bodies were recovered.

Pioneer James F Vaughan Dies After Long Illness
James F Vaughan aged 80 years 9 months 29 days dies Jan 11 1907 at his Fountain County farm after a long life as a farmer. Born in Culpeper County Virginia April 12 1826 he lived in Kentucky and Indiana. He married twice first to Sarah Ann Bannidwin 1842 then Amanda Webb 1865, leaving six daughters, one son and eleven grandchildren. Funeral held Jan 13 by Rev Mee Hargue in Kingman, burial in Centennial cemetery.
