Rev Dayie Shuler, Mrs Grimes’s uncle, and Noah W Grimes, W L Grimes’s uncle, taught as the township’s earliest instructors. Both teachers were North Carolina natives from the area’s early settlers. The initial school met in a rough log cabin near Wallace, about a quarter mile east of the Myers reunions site. Is there a parallel in the state for a couple sharing kinship to the first township teachers?
