Twenty one petitions were referred to the Student council after hours of confusion over the noon deadline. The elections committee ruled some petitions void for late filing, while constitutional issues prompted sending the matter to the council for interpretation. Five nominees were automatically voided for missing signatures or petition flaws.

Grad Honored WAF Corporal Receives Promotions and Editor Role
Corporal Eleanor L. Meck of the Women in the Air Force received two commendations and two promotions in October. Her promotion from private first class led to appointment as assistant editor of the Wingspread the Randolph Air Force Base official newspaper in Texas. A Kent State graduate she served as Kent Stater society editor and student body editor of the 1948 Chestnut Burr.

Film Classics Series Shows Victor Hugo's Les Miserables
Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables is featured in the Film Classics Series with Charles Laughton and Fredric March starring in the American adaptation. ROTC Units Plan Saturday Field Exercise Near Streetsboro
Kent State University ROTC Company K-1 and Akron University ROTC Company D-1 will hold a two phase sham battle and field problem northeast of Streetsboro off Route 43 on Saturday November 3. Cadets Emil Koval Benjamin Davis William Lowe and Capt James Robinson will lead and oversee the activity designed to apply ROTC training with no victor. Umpires from KSU will supervise and a post exercise critique will follow. Cadets depart Kent at 7 30 am and combat begins at 9 am.
