Petitions disputed move to Student council for ruling

Twenty one petitions were referred to the Student council after hours of confusion over the noon deadline. The elections committee ruled some petitions void for late filing, while constitutional issues prompted sending the matter to the council for interpretation. Five nominees were automatically voided for missing signatures or petition flaws.

Bowman Heads Religious Week

The Religious Emphasis Week executive council has been appointed for January 13 to 17. George A. Bowman is honorary chairman, Rev. A. Laten Carter is executive secretary, Dr. Olive Woodruff heads the kindergarten department as administrative chairman, Jo Harper is student co chairman, Ruth Urban is secretary, and Ben McDonald serves as treasurer. Prominent religious leaders will visit campus for meetings, seminars, and classroom visits to inspire programs for the year.

Grad Honored WAF Corporal Receives Promotions and Editor Role

Corporal Eleanor L. Meck of the Women in the Air Force received two commendations and two promotions in October. Her promotion from private first class led to appointment as assistant editor of the Wingspread the Randolph Air Force Base official newspaper in Texas. A Kent State graduate she served as Kent Stater society editor and student body editor of the 1948 Chestnut Burr.

Psi Chi To Open Membership Drive

Psi Chi the psychology honorary opens memberships for both associate and active categories, says president Wesley Zaynor. Associate members require psychology majors or minors with above average psychology grades. active members need psychology majors or minors with a 3.0 in the field and 18 psychology hours completed. Applications available in Kent Hall psychology office.

Film Classics Series Shows Victor Hugo's Les Miserables

Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables is featured in the Film Classics Series with Charles Laughton and Fredric March starring in the American adaptation. The screening, at 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., will be in the Arts building auditorium. Co sponsors are the Audio-visual center and the University library. Admission is free.

ROTC Units Plan Saturday Field Exercise Near Streetsboro

Kent State University ROTC Company K-1 and Akron University ROTC Company D-1 will hold a two phase sham battle and field problem northeast of Streetsboro off Route 43 on Saturday November 3. Cadets Emil Koval Benjamin Davis William Lowe and Capt James Robinson will lead and oversee the activity designed to apply ROTC training with no victor. Umpires from KSU will supervise and a post exercise critique will follow. Cadets depart Kent at 7 30 am and combat begins at 9 am.

Homecoming Play Tickets On Sale For Born Yesterday

Tickets for the Homecoming play Born Yesterday are available tomorrow at a table between Kent Hall and the Atrium. University Theatre memberships go on sale then and at the door before each performance. The show runs November 7 to 10 and students with activity or membership cards may obtain tickets.
