Mrs. Marie Apple leads a 9 o’clock class of health and physical education majors and minors in playful activities. The scene features warm ups, games like Blackman Cat and Rat and Three Blind Mice, and a lesson on seeing life as a child again for an hour.
Freshman voters at Kent State university will select one of five candidates Elizabeth Meer Virginia Block Olga Jansa Ann Morgan Phyllis Swallow in the ideal freshman coed poll. The poll runs 9 a m to 4 p m in the atrium with Norma Knisely urging all freshmen to vote.
Equipment added to the industrial arts department includes a lathe a large drill press and ten small bench model drills issued through the Cleveland army ordnance office as surplus material. Most of the implements are new and come from government surplus stock.
Dr. D. W. Pearce head of the psychology department commented that the department is encouraged by the number of upper division students enrolled this quarter.
University librarian John Nichol will chair a district Ohio Library Association gathering in Akron today and tomorrow. Five staff members attend including reference librarian Mrs Whetten assistant librarian Miss McGrew cataloger Miss Thurston circulation librarian Miss Wheelock and Nicholson.
Oliver Ocasek, publicity and decoration chair, announces committees for the Sadie Hawkins Day dance on Saturday November 17. Angeline Zima, Art club president, will lead decorations with Norma Knisely Arlene Riggle Ed Suvanto and Ruth Smith on publicity. Herbert Redman of the Cleveland Plain Dealer will judge.
At a recent meeting the Fresh Frolics were approved by vote but a tryout drew only judges. Jim Wright and Leonard Stefany urged freshmen to support the show, noting blank posters and a final tryout tonight from seven to nine in the auditorium.
Dr. W. G. Meinke professor of German was re-elected president of the Kent chapter of the American Association of University Professors. Grace Sherrer was elected vice president with James Holm and Hugh Stelson re-elected as secretary and treasurer respectively.
Agnes Young, secretary to the dean of men, said the Beta Gamma sorority collected 13.71 last week. Members of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority carry penny boxes as the penny drive enters its second week.
The student council discussed funding the athletic program with a possible activity fee increase or a separate athletic association. Bowman urged cooperation as George A. Bowman asked athletic heads to outline a program for a budget to be sent to the allocations committee.
Lt Col William D. Taylor head of the school of journalism on leave visited the campus en route to New York. He hopes for a discharge before spring but does not expect to return to Kent until fall 1946. Taylor served in New Guinea under General MacArthur and led efforts to publish a grammar for Philippine occupation troops. He organized courses and started a college in Manila.
Dewey F Barich veterans coordinator will address K-Vet members tomorrow night at 7 in the balcony of Wills gymnasium He will present ideas to establish the K-Vets as an organization benefiting every veteran on campus All veterans whether or not they are K-Vets are urged to attend.
The workshop selects Suvanto's Alles Fur Deutschland with Lee Shhenefiel directing. Shirley Haines announces, Edwin Suvanto will narrate, and cast members include John Cone Ted Baskin Arlene Riggle Billie Sinclair Dave Ryan Claude Miller Eileen McGin ley Dottie Wolf and Bob Chizmar. The Nazi knife tale follows its journey through owners to a reflection on symbol meaning for the next generation.
