Inter-Faith Convocation to feature three faith leaders

Three leaders representing the Roman Catholic church Protestant churches and Jewish synagogues will speak at a campus convocation in the auditorium on Wednesday November 4 at 10 a m Prof Alvin J Miller says Dr Everett R Clinchy of New York will speak for the Protestant churches Rabbi B R Brickner of Cleveland will speak for the Jewish church A Catholic representative is not yet named Heads of campus religious organizations should contact Mr Miller The convocation is sponsored by the YMCA and YWCA with campus religious groups and includes meetings with classes and a noon luncheon by reservation

Fresh Class to Meet Candidates for Office Nomination

Fresh class will hold a meeting Monday at 4 p m in room 317 McGilvrey hall to introduce candidates for freshman offices. Thornhill, popular orchestra leader, bows out of the music scene for Navy duty. He enlisted October 5 and will report for active duty Monday. His farewell will be aired on The Victory Parade of Spotlight Bands at 9:30 p.m. on the Blue network.

Dean Raymond E. Manchester reported that $6.94 was collected yesterday by his orientation class, lifting the season total to $75.90. Beta Gamma sorority will run a “personal approach” campaign next week while no men’s groups have yet volunteered to lead the drive for sending copies of the States and the Duchess to former KSU men in service.

Kent State to Present Homecoming Queen At Dance

Kent State 1942 Homecoming queen Marilyn Soule will be officially introduced between halves of the Kent State Reserve game Saturday afternoon. The formal presentation of the Medina sophomore will occur during intermission at the Homecoming dance in Wills gym tomorrow night with Cal Dalton and his orchestra from 9 to 12. Friday night permits for University women were extended under new closing hour rules adopted by the Women’s League. Corp Callahan Dies Of Neck Fracture

Corporal James W. Callahan former Kent State student died Tuesday night in New Jersey from a fractured neck. A U S Marine Corps member promoted a month ago, he enlisted August 2, 1941. A Cathedral Latin high school grad, he came to Kent State in 1940 41 and also attended John Carroll University. He starred in high school track hurdles and ran on the freshman team at KSU.

Kent State 1942 Homecoming Queen crowned amid campus wins

Marilyn Soule Independent candidate won Homecoming queen at Kent State University 1942 with 315 of 808 votes over Jayme Ayres and Dotty Roessel. The Pan-Campus party swept 10 offices, including three presidencies, while Coalition won five posts.

Rally Cancelled at Akron Homecoming Gathering

Wayne Leroy, chairman of the committee, announced the cancellation of the planned homecoming rally. The decision followed a crowded social weekend that would have caused many students to be called elsewhere.
