Petition deadline for the fall election is Thursday by 4 p m October 26 announced by Don Wargowsky elections chairman. Petitions may be secured today at the Student Council office and must be signed by the candidate and 10 percent of the group represented. Election of upper class officers council secretary and delayed Men’s Union will be held Monday November 6 in the atrium from 9 a m to 4 p m.
First Lieut Edwin C Kieselbach a university student in 1942 43 recently earned an oak leaf cluster for the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart. He was a bomber pilot reported safe after being missing in action over Yugoslavia. He had been shot down and held in a Yugoslav prison camp before release.
James N. Holm assistant professor of speech writes in the September issue of the debate handbook for the National University Extension Association. The article defends the national high school debate topic by arguing for lowering the legalizing age to eighteen.
Memorial services for Staff Sergeant E. Lindeman from University in 1942 will be held at 10 45 a m Sunday October 22 at Bethany United Church in Cuyahoga Falls. Lindeman was a B 24 Liberator bomber crew member killed on a bombing mission over Tours in June 194?
Arlene Riggle announces the University Theater stage crew for the November 15 and 16 production. The staff includes Eleanor Hildebrand Betty Lee Winfield Elizabeth Ersley Piotter Lucille Heck Betty Shutrump Dave Ryan Roy Dunn with E T Stump directing and Pat Springer Suzanne Schwartz Gene Yanda Virginia Schultz overseeing makeup.
Peg Curry, president of Student Council, said freshmen were not authorized to remove their dinks. She stressed the football game did not settle the matter and plans for further competition are underway.
The first social dancing of the year, sponsored by the Men's Union, was pronounced very successful by chairman George Papp and Harry Daniels. Plans for a student band directed by Mike Friedland and additional entertainment depend on crowd size. Records were provided by Hank Johnston. Dancing will continue each Wednesday at 8.
The council approved Blue Key to sponsor a Booster Club at the University with support from Cardinal Key and involvement by students townspeople and alumni. George Inscho will coordinate the effort while NTFC production may proceed under the entertainment committee. Election publicity material must be removed from school property by the evening before November 6. Bud Gerber named to social committee as interfraternity council representative.
Carolyn Siegel announces another Freshman Frolic tryout for November in room 119 Kent Hall at 7 p m. She notes the previous turnout was good but more talent and original stunts are needed and urges freshmen who did not participate before to cooperate.
George Insche, co chairman of the freshman committee, announced yesterday that the freshman class will meet Wednesday with time and place to be announced later.
The allocations committee approved a $500 provision for return of varsity sports during a three hour session Tuesday night. They recommended salary cuts for Chestnut Burr editor and business manager and adjusted Kent Stater business manager pay tied to advertising revenue. Original budgets totaled $4,973.10, with $26.80 added to the choir bringing its quarterly total to $101.70.
Virginia Good, a senior in the college of education, is elected general manager of the Radio Workshop. Suzanne Schwartz becomes assistant manager, Arline Crown librarian, Frank Carroll head of sound effects, Gene Vanda chief engineer, John Williamson assistant chief engineer, and Betty Shutrump head of the script department. Next meeting set for Tuesday Oct 24 at 7 pm. students invited.
President George A. Bowman will address the student body as 119 seniors are honored. The assembly, the first of the year, will be at 10 a.m. in the University auditorium with classes excused and attendance taken. Seniors will be informed by mail about cap and gown pickup and meeting locations. Barbara Berkey, assembly committee chair, announced.
The University Theater membership drive will close Friday October 27. Sororities compete in selling tickets and a rotating plaque will be awarded to the winner after the deadline with the trophy replaced by a plaque for three non consecutive years.
Dr. Howard L. Bevis of Ohio State University will deliver the guest address at the inauguration of President George A. Bowman on Saturday November 18. A luncheon at 11 30 a.m. follows the event with a 1 p.m. procession to the University auditorium and the oath of office at 1 15 p.m. A reception at the President's East Main Street residence is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m.

Quarterly allocations total funds for assemblies and committees with amounts for entertainment social and arts groups. The University theater receives funds for a play while Kent Stater and Chestnut Burr papers receive support. The yearly 13061.61 budget covers many departments including Forensics Band Radio Wheel.
The University Men’s Union hosts a banquet at First Christian church on Wednesday October 25 at 545 p m Tickets are sold by executive board members including Williamson Danze Farres Papp Jack Patterson Insche Amond Daniels Dunn Wargowsky Zaremba Phillips priced at 60 cents No tickets after 4 pm Tuesday Speaker will be a University faculty member and give a brief after dinner talk.
Elsie Stalzer was elected corresponding secretary of Cardinal Key the national women's honorary sorority at the meeting Wednesday. Mary Ellen Hoffman, president announced Betsey Case was chosen as treasurer for the service group.
