The Chestnut Burr announces sophomores will have portraits taken this week 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Stopher hall with no charge, juniors in late October, seniors early November at two studios. Six faculty speakers include Drs Hadley Herrick White Brady Fletcher Raup with talks across Columbus Canton Battle Creek Akron and Kent, dates Oct 18 19 20 24 26 28. Seniors must register for portrait time by Oct 28.

Women's League Sets Year Calendar and Plans
Members met in Dean Ada V. Hyatt's office to set a tentative calendar for the year. The Big Little Sister tea in Moulton music room promoted fellowship between old and new Kent State members. Upcoming events include a Nov 30 style show, Feb 3 Pork Barrel, April 29 all-school spring format, and June 1 senior women's banquet. Shirley Edwards, president, announced a new secretary will be appointed next meeting.

Cleveland Band to Perform at Wednesday Social Dance
Sunny Kovar's Tune Twisters from Cleveland will be featured at the Wednesday Social dancing session. The quintet has appeared in numerous night clubs and at the Aragon and Saxenheim ballrooms. Dancing starts at 8 in the gym. admission is 25 cents.

KSU Professor to Head J School at Maryland
Alfred A. Crowell associate professor of journalism at KSU will head the Department of Journalism and Public Relations at the University of Maryland starting January 1 1950. He joined KSU in 1944 as acting head and previously revived the short course in news photography and created an industrial editors institute.
