Election Committee Posts Still Open

President Moldovan called a special meeting for today to fill 17 election committee vacancies as only nine of 12 members appeared yesterday. Eleven applicants have filed with five Blue and Gold seats, five Nu-K, and seven Independents, two more than allotted non Greeks. Six applicants are Independents, with Moldovan fearing many independents may not apply.

Young Star Keefe Brasselle Visits Kent Amid Movietime USA Drive

Keefe Brasselle, star of A Place in the Sun, tours Ohio towns promoting Movietime USA. He will lunch at Engleman hall cafeteria, Kent, and address the public from a band stand after a noon visit to Canton and Ravenna. Local officials greet him at the east city limits.

Enrollment Tops 5000 At KSU After Fees Paid

Registrar Charles E. Atkinson confirms several students who had not paid their fees by Tuesday morning have settled accounts, pushing the university enrollment past the 5,000 mark. A rally is announced for tonight.

Research Group Hears Dr Shaw

The Kent Research group met with Dr. Roger Shaw as guest speaker. His talk, titled A synthesis of Research on Academic Achievement in Our Public Schools Then and Now, drew on 15 major studies to assess whether modern schools teach standard subjects as well as in the good old days. He argued that modern schools perform as well or better in standard subjects.

Dancers to Appear on Gene Carrolls Amateur Show

Four members of the Kermess dancers of Kent will perform on Gene Carrolls Amateur Show Sunday from noon to 1 pm on WEWS channel 5. The group formed last spring under Miss Emalou Brumfield and will also attend the National Square Dance festival in Chicago October 26 to 28. They plan a trip to Crile hospital in November. Rally tonight.

Intergroup Sets Meeting Dates

Intergroup changes from bi monthly to weekly Tuesdays at 4 p.m. in 205 Union. All University students and last year’s members urged to attend. Next meeting is Oct 16. State announcement error stated this week’s meeting as Wednesday.

Student Committee Plans Open House

The Student Committee of International Understanding will hold its first meeting Sunday Oct. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Moulton Hall Music room. It is to be an open house with interpretive dance by Carol Walgenbach. Francine Orin and George Karez lead the program. The group aims to promote fellowship among international students and help Americans understand life in other countries.

Booster club launches a membership drive with a football rally at 8 tonight at Prentice gate. Dr. A Sellen Roberts will speak, the football team will share talks, and a soundtrack will precede the rally. A campus parade follows with police approval contingent on student cooperation. Make-Up Tests Announced for Freshmen

Dr. Dwight Arnold head of the Guidance Testing office says makeup exams for psychological and reading tests will be offered to all incoming freshmen who missed them during Freshman week. Tests run today from 2 to 4 p.m. in 203 K and next Tuesday October 16 with no appointment needed.
