Homecoming Weekend Builds To Friday Debut And Saturday Gridiron

University marks its 10th Homecoming with a theater opening The Melting Pot Friday and a day of alumni breakfasts luncheons and a 2 15 kickoff against Mount Union at Rockwell field. Cardinal Key leads events with a 9 30 breakfast at Robin Hood Inn and a queen presentation at intermission.

Homecoming Decoration Drive By Cardinal Key Blue Key

Cardinal Key and Blue Key announced they will sponsor homecoming house decorations for sororities fraternities and dormitories with noon Saturday as the deadline. Houses will be judged on originality and appropriateness and winners will be announced at intermission in Wills gym Saturday night. Lambda Phi and Chi Pi assist with dance decorations under the 10th anniversary theme.

The Independent party schedules a gathering this afternoon at four o clock in the University auditorium. Party chairman James Rybak urges all interested individuals to attend and participate in party activities.

Get Acquainted Lunches Planned For Senior Men

The senior committee of the Men’s union sponsors informal luncheons every Tuesday noon at the Robin Hood. Each meeting will have a different senior class member head a discussion on a chosen topic with no speeches. The first luncheon starts Tuesday Oct 15, said committee member Henry La Torraca.

Start of Social Dancing Classes at University Gym

The HPE department will sponsor two social dancing classes on Thursday Oct 17 and 24 at 7 30 am in the University gym taught by Clement Browne of Akron. Advance and beginner dancing will be covered. Admission requires business dress and 9 30 am access for students and faculty replaces the Wednesday sessions.

Olson’s Election Hints For Portage County Voters

Mrs. David Olson head of the Portage county election board outlines absentee voting rules. Voters may apply or vote between October 5 and October 30 by absentee ballot, request an application by card, and must notarize and return the filled application before ballots are sent.

Deadline Nears As Six Enroll For CPT Course

Six students have joined the second CPT flight group under Adrian Van Wyen. Training starts once ten enroll and Mid-City airport in Hudson serves as the center. Enrollees include Anthony Incorvaia Cleveland Clyde Slyman Akron John Hale Cuyahoga Falls Gabriel Szabo Cleveland Ted Madzel eski Akron and Robert Leiman Butler. Chicago HQ says no new enrollments after October 15, with 30 likely to fly by then and 40 not guaranteed.

Infirmary Bare After Weekend Activities at School

Over the weekend the infirmary remained mostly empty with only a single student visiting for cold relief. Saturday's win over Hiram and yesterday's rain did not affect its quiet status as sunbeams lingered and no major health issues were reported.

Association Confers Membership To Prox

The Students Forensic association awarded its first honorary membership yesterday morning to President K. C. Leebrick by the board of directors. Vernon Beal presented Leebrick with his membership card yesterday afternoon. Leebrick is active in Pi Kappa Delta and has long worked in the speech field.
