University Instructor Heads Kent Chest Drive
Eugene Pyle, political science instructor, named chairman of the professional division of the Kent Community Chest drive. He runs a Kent law office, graduated in 1946, joined the faculty in 1948 after earning a Western Reserve law degree, and was a Kappa Mu Kappa member. He is the Republican candidate for city solicitor in November.

Start Work On Edifice
A small ground breaking ceremony was held for a new 740000 dollar Industrial Arts building. The two storied brick structure will sit between the heating plant and the parking lot facing Terrace drive with a rear single story toward Stopher hall. It covers 225 feet square and will house all Industrial Arts classes including an auditorium like 817McG. Completion is targeted for September 1, 1950. Kent hall rooms will be vacated to add classrooms for more subjects.

The $800,000 building includes a game room, six bowling alleys, snack bar, cafeteria, ballroom with 200 chairs, and a social lounge with television. Paintings On Exhibition In Art Gallery
Forty-one water color paintings by American masters are on display in the second floor hall between the Administration building and Kent hall. The works are from the Cleveland May show held at the Cleveland Museum of Art last May and will travel to another university by October 21.
