Three women Kitty Liptak Arlene Chamberlin and Jean Comerford vie for the lead in the freshman play Kind Lady during rehearsals announced by director G Harry Wright. The production will be presented Friday November 10 with all three cast in the show.
Brief notice requests all program organizers to inform the assembly committee a week in advance of stage requirements and a speaker for student announcements. Dr D W Pearce chairs Assembly Committee A recital on the Clavilux by Thomas Wilfred at Central high auditorium today with 4 PM student recital and 8 PM concert. Admission 15 cents then 1 dollar benefiting the Akron Art Institute.
Campus groups must report to Fred H. Denker head of the music department by October 7 to take part in the university sing slated for October 10 at 1 PM.
The 10th annual Teacher-Training and Departmental conference will be held Friday and Saturday October 13 and 14. Kent State graduates administrators and teachers from Northeastern Ohio will attend. Dean H G Edmundson of the University of Michigan School of Education will give an address. President K C Leebrick and the conference committee will welcome guests.
The men s union committee will meet tonight at 6 o'clock at the Robin Hood to lay out the schedule of contests and activities. On October 17 the union will present an assembly program of students. The annual vaudeville fun fest will be held in the auditorium December 12 with faculty advisors Dean Manchester Dr Munzenmayer and Mrs Slocum. About 30 men and women joined the Wednesday hike ending at 5 30 p m with cider and doughnuts.
A mass pep rally will ignite a wood pile to mark the start of events for Kent Heidelberg tomorrow. Cheerleaders Milan Piotrowski Bob Cain Ralph Braden and Joe Michaels lead the ceremonies at 7 30 p m at the west end of the football field.
Police authorize a snake dance tonight but warn students not to crash the Schine theatre and to keep order.
Freshmen were gathered at a mass meeting in the auditorium yesterday to plan the bonfire. Mickey Dover will lead freshmen activities including building a Heidelberg dummy and coordinating songs cheers and band selections. The event ends with the Heidelberg effigy burn and the snake dance, followed by a procession through campus and the Alma Mater at the public square.
Enrollment stands at 2561 today and is expected to rise this semester. Registrar B C Stopher notes that past admissions by just cause continue, with students requesting lighter loads as the term enters its third week. he predicts a 25 percent or more increase.
Names of former Kent State art students Dorothy Fusek and Myrtle Gue appear among exhibitors at the Mahoning County Art Exhibit. Mrs. Fusek displayed five oil paintings while Mrs. Gue showed two oils and a pastel, reflecting their recent summer study at Kent.
