Golden Flashes Edge Mount Union 13 11 for first win

Kent State’s Golden Flashes defeated Mount Union 13 to 11 at Memorial Stadium in Kent. Oster and Mancos scored the touchdowns and Mancos broke two long runs, as about 7,500 fans witnessed KSU’s first win of the 1949 season.

Students interested in radio work are invited to an open meeting of the radio workshop Tuesday at 4 p.m. in 317A Kent hall. Plans for productions to air over station WAKR on Saturday mornings and for auditions and announcing over WKSU this quarter will be made at the meeting.

Enrollment Total Continues Climb at Kent State

Kent State began its 38th year by setting a new enrollment record with 6 675 full time students for fall. Registrar Atkinson reports 6 000 on campus and 675 in the Canton division. Freshmen total 1 723 and transfers 450. Veteran share fell to 41 percent, but overall enrollment rose about 300 from last year. Only one in six new students is an ex GI. Local veterans officials note Kent State maintains one of Ohio’s highest veteran enrollments.

Scientist Perrine to Speak at Assembly Program

Dr Perrine will demonstrate lighting fluorescent lamps without wires and showing how speech and music travel as electrical waves. The talk explains how these advances relate to television telegraphy and telephony. Open to the public free.
