President K C Leebrick corrected the university calendar noting Kent State will observe Thanksgiving on November 20 in line with Ohio policy. Classes end at 5 p m November 19 and resume November 21 at 8 a m after the Thanksgiving holiday.
President Kenneth Davis announced that the Independents will hold their first fall meeting next Thursday in room 102 Merrill hall. The meeting will elect the remainder of the executive committee and discuss candidates for class offices and homecoming queen. Freshmen are urged to attend for explanation of the party constitution and platform.
August Quattrochi is elected to the position of recording secretary for Chi Pi. The change names Quattrochi to a key administrative post in the organization.
The Kent Stater reports the third World Series game to be aired today at 1 p m in the auditorium. If the series continues, broadcasts will resume next Monday. The Dodgers tied the series at two games each after a 3 2 victory over the Yankees.
The Student Forensic Association invites all students to a 7 30 p m meeting in room 316 Kent Hall. Joe Blair, the student director, announced the program includes intercollegiate and novice debating and a campus sweepstakes tournament. Joe Hart directs extension entertainment service. Scheffel Pierce handles intramural activities.
Students who applied for positions with the student employment bureau and have not been placed should contact Merle Wagoner, director of the employment bureau. Wagoner announced today that there are still jobs available and he would like to interview applicants to determine the best suited positions for each student.

Norma Baldwin a education junior will tutor students needing help with English writing at the college. She plans private lessons to aid those deficient in English 160 and will use an English room for her classes once the nine weeks deficiencies are announced.
Kent Courier Tribune editor Keith Spriggel told 51 journalism students that a small town daily operates as a close knit family. He spoke to Prof. W. D. Taylor's Journalism 160 class about reporter hours, management, and adapting to a changing environment.
The Off Campus Women’s club holds its first social meeting Monday at 7 p m in Moulton’s music hall to open the membership drive. Active organizers include Mary DiVencenzo Jean Claypoole Betty Burns Lucille Routh Martha Dwyer and Marie Chandler. Mrs H R Nissley the club advisor will serve refreshments.
Nomination ballots for national officers in the American Association of University Professors have been distributed to faculty members. Dr H W Hudson head of the economics department announced yesterday.
Kent State with G. D. Starn plans to start seven sophomores in the second season meeting with the Findlay Oilers in Findlay. The lineup includes first year players Britt Ruffo Kuzmenko Hill Fortunato with veterans Bania Toth Heichel Williams. Oilers under Lee Graves in their second game are expected to pose tougher challenge.
Ralph Braden announces the two new female cheerleaders to join the squad. Eight women tried out yesterday including Rosemary Ohliger and Jessie Wilcox. the pair will perform with three men at home football games for the first time in University history. Braden says two more girls and one man will be chosen for basketball season.
Dr. Don ald Anthony chairman of the committee on fraternal relations says he knows only what he reads in the States on alleged Pan Hellenic ethics violations. He says he is unaware of disturbances and no complaints have been lodged. He notes one committee meeting has occurred and more will be discussed at the next regular meeting.
Educational committee of the Portage County Social federation will meet in Ravenna Monday at 7 30 p m to discuss plans for educational courses for Arsenal workers. Fren Musselman is chairman.
Larry Woodell superintendent of Maintenance departed yesterday for a two week vacation in Saskatchewan Canada. He will be away from duties during the period with anticipated return after the allotted break.
Mrs. C. B. Ketchem wife of Mount Union college president told 60 YMCA YWCA members at a joint Moulton hall meeting that everyone should join the y because it bars no one by denomination race or social status making it the campus organization open to all groups.
The Manchester Cup horseshoe pitching contest will start Monday according to a decision by the executive council of the Men's Union. The Robin Hood dinner meeting discussed plans for the coming year with attendees including Dr. Lester Munzenmayer and Prof. M E Wagoner.
A meeting of off campus house presidents is scheduled Tuesday at 7 15 p m in room 219 Kent hall to discuss plans for a party for all off campus women.
