Kent State University will add a female baton twirler to its marching band. Manetta Croakman, drum majorette, will perform next Saturday if the uniform arrives. Kent’s enlarged unit will tour Akron Bowling Green and Washington Pa. under Prof. R D Metcalf with four new field drums a bass drum alto horn and three new drum majors along with the new majorette.

All-Girl Band Second in State Forms at Kent State
Forty members, split evenly between freshmen and upperclassmen, have signed up for the all-girl band organized last week. Kent State University offers the only state venue for girls to join a marching band besides Oberlin College. The group traces its origin to 1933 when girls were barred from the marching band and was formed by thirty former members in 1934.
