State Plans New Road Across University Campus
State highway crews will start work within a week on a road from Engleman hall behind the women’s athletic field to the campus far end. Larry Woodell says the road opens the back campus, links to Summit street, and will reach near the proposed president’s home site. University workers salvage topsoil for use on the front campus as shrubs are planted behind Lowry hall to guard a drop.

Dean May Stop Duchess Service Amid Budget Talks
Agnes Young says the penny drive to fund Duchess service for men in the armed forces will continue despite a proposed price increase. Professors H E Stelson and H P Rogers of the mathematics department will publish a commercial algebra text next year. MacMillan has signed for printing and publishing. The book targets business and accounting courses with chapters on buying and selling, interest, discount, consumer credit, installments, and annuities. It will be Stelson’s second book, following his earlier work on business mathematics.
