Petitions Circulate for Student Elections December 16

Student council elections committee ruled petitions go out December 2 and are due December 6 for four freshman two sophomores and one junior seat. Students must register today or tomorrow to vote in the council, men's union and class officer elections.

Snakes On Campus Raise Hiss In McGilvrey Hall

Six student owned snakes including a diamondback timber rattler copperhead king snake and two water snakes live unseen in the animal room of McGilvrey hall. John Lyon freshman from Long Island plans to ship a 12 foot boa constrictor to the NY zoo. Lyon a marine veteran and pre veterinary student has lectured widely and joins herpetology societies. The snakes will provide sound effects for a KSRW broadcast if they cooperate.

White Heads Ohio Federation of College Veterans

Bob White was elected president for 1947 of the Ohio Federation of College Veterans at Bowling Green University. He succeeds Paul C. Kitchin Jr a graduate of Ohio State University and professor in the KSU political science department. Kitchin who organized the federation in 1945 was made honorary member of its board of trustees.

Workshop Meets Kent State Radio

The Workshop will meet tonight at 7 30 p m in Studio A. Tryouts for the December 7 broadcast over WAKR Akron will follow the business meeting. Script and idea departments are accepting original scripts or ideas for new radio programs.

Burr seeks 20 student models to pose for advertising. Juniors’ pictures run 9 to 11 a.m. and 12 to 2 p.m. today in the auditorium. Seniors without pictures should report to Bransby Studio at 141 E Main later this week.

Golden Flashes Defeat Alumni In Season Opener

KSU opened the 1946 basketball season by beating the Alumni 69 to 42 at Wills Gym. Dale Haverstock led with 18 points, Fred Klaisner and Earl Hall added nine each, while Ted Tucker topped the Alumni with nine. Flashes led 14-9, 34-21, and 54-30 through three quarters.

NTFC Tryouts Set For Tuesday For No Time For Classes

Auditions and auditions for the annual NTFC musical comedy No Time For Classes begin next week with sessions Tuesday and Thursday 2 5 and Wednesday 3 5 in 199K. 27 men 12 women castings plus extras. Director Jim Bullock announces further for singers dancers instrumentalists and other acts. Students must bring own music and composer submissions are due by December 13 to Bob White or Bullock. Assistants named include Wilbur Adams Roy Newsome Cliff Hancock R Uray Mike Friedland and Duane Budner.

KSU Orchestra Presents Haydn Drum Roll Tonight

Kent State University orchestra conducts Haydn Drum Roll Symphony at 8 30 in the Kent State auditorium. The program features Purcell overture to The Rival Sisters, Reiche Sonata No 15 for brass, Haydn Drum Roll, and Douglas Moore Village Music. Weekley Named Editor of Duchess Campus Humor Magazine

Alvin Weekley, a junior in liberal arts, is chosen to edit the Duchess after Bob Kenyon’s resignation. Staff includes Hope Greener, Bud Hughes, Bill Fike, Phil Dempsey, Joanne Kemp, Bob Wentz and others. the first issue is set for mid December and subscriptions remain on sale.

Kent Research Group Formed At Kent State University

A group of KSU professors and students established the Kent Research unit to promote research among faculty members graduate students and residents of Kent. Each member must submit one paper annually with reports at monthly meetings. Membership is capped at 24. Dr George R Bach chairs the group with Dr William H Form as vice chair and Dr Clinton H Hobbs as secretary treasurer.

Replacements Lead University Theatre Ten Little Indians Cast

Indian replaced Duane Budner as captain Philip Lombard in the University theatre production Ten Little Indians, succeeding Ed Halas. The change places Budner’s successor in a key role for the on campus performance.
