Mundt Urges Lifting Iron Curtain to Preserve Peace
South Dakota congressman Karl E. Mundt told a Wednesday audience that the United States can keep peace with Russia by exposing its secrets and using firm tactics. In a second talk to students, Mundt argued free speech safeguards democracy against totalitarianism and criticized appeasement of Soviet dominated states. He noted UNESCO could not advance cooperation while Russia remains secretive and warned that bending to Moscow allows puppet states to be absorbed. Mundt, former head of Eastern State Teachers College speech department, said propaganda experts are harder to fool when people understand how it's presented and can speak for themselves.

Students Back Live Music for Social Dances
Social dancers at the university voted 86 percent in favor of paying 15 cents to fund a live band every other week. Of 681 polled, 91 voted no, 15 had no opinion, and 5 supported with reservations. Bob Duncan, head of the University Veterans association, announced plan start December 4 with the first dance on December 18 and hopes for at least one free dance per quarter if funds allow.

Blue Key Names 17 Members in National Honorary
Blue Key, the national men's service honorary, announced 17 new members Thursday with 11 seniors and six juniors named to membership. Mayor Alfred C. Lovell proclaims November 26, 1946, as Meager Meal Day for Kent residents and Kent State students. Residents and students are asked to eat one less meal to donate to Care for starving Europeans. Donation boxes will be in cafeterias restaurants and the atrium for faculty and students.

After-Dance Time Cut To One Hour By Committee
The administrative social committee reduced women students after-dance time to one hour on Wednesday. Dances now end at midnight except the Junior-Senior Prom and the Top Hop which end at 1 a.m. No dance may be advertised without approval and none may be held where a liquor bar is open.
Combined Choirs Christmas Concert December 9
The University Madrigal choir teams with the combined A Cappella choirs for a Christmas concert at 8 15 p m on December 9. After the show the groups tour to Cleveland and vicinity Canton Youngstown and Akron with about 25 broadcasts planned for the school year.
