The first meeting of the Fresh man class is set for 7 30 p m in 317 McG will feature an address by President George A Bowman The gathering aims to organize the Fresh class and cover student government voting procedures class dues and social activities Candidates for Freshman offices will be introduced Advisors Chuck Fletcher and Jo Hagerty urge full attendance.
A meeting of the Allocations Committee is scheduled for today at 4 p.m. in room 101M. Chairman Warren Lashley said the session will cover methods for assisting organizations that have run into the red financially.
The Thanksgiving break runs from the end of the last class on Wednesday November 24 to the start of classes on Monday November 29 as announced by the president's office.
Wilbur Little and Lee Kuhner are to be honored at a dinner at the Phi Beta Phi house. Each will receive a $5 gift certificate and a turkey dinner for their selections as outstanding back and lineman in the Akron KSU game. The ceremony begins a recurring annual event.
Matt Hall, veteran newspaperman and Akron public relations counsel, will speak tonight at 7 to the University Associate Chapter of the American Newspaper Guild in 101M. Hall has served as makeup editor, copy desk man, and general assignment reporter for Detroit Times Akron Beacon Journal and Buffalo Times. He now counsels for the Akron Chamber of Commerce, National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis and several Greater Akron firms. All journalism students are invited. guild members should attend on time for a brief pre-talk meeting.
Rabbi Julius J. Nodel will address the university Thanksgiving assembly at 11 a.m. in the campus auditorium. He will speak on Giving Thanks for What and is active as a chaplain, author, and civic leader in Cleveland.
Funeral services for Robert Halsey a 23 year old public relations senior who died Friday will be held tomorrow at Billows Chapel Akron at 1 p.m. He had planned to marry Audrey Lee McQuiddy of Fairview Village that day. The stroke followed injuries from an Oberlin Ohio car accident last July which postponed the September wedding.
Tickets for the two act comedy Yes and No by Kenneth Horne go on sale this week in Kent hall foyer. Performances are December 2 3 and 4 at 8 15 p m with student 25 cent and faculty 10 cent charges to cover extra University theater presentations. Directed by Katherine Moore Norton with Wes Egan as technical director Norma Remmy and John R Biggs lead roles Marilyn Hayes Fern Roberts Jackie Gelbman Norma Lou Horne and Dick Johnson in the cast.
Central committee of clubs and honoraries asks all clubs to send constitution, officer list, member list, meeting time and place, representative name, and founding date. Deadline is December 10 1948. Reports go to the Student council mailbox in the Atrium.
