Six university departments share roles in a Goethe 200th anniversary program starting at 11 a.m. today. Western Reserve University faculty and students perform scenes from Faust and provide music from Goethe’s era with the Kent Symphony joining the university orchestra.

Kinship A Necessity speech by Dr Seabury in town

Dr Ruth Isabel Seabury, traveling Christian Missions secretary, spoke at the auditorium on kinship across races and religions. She cited Japan’s curriculum changes at Doshisha University and noted women’s education debates, child fears, longstanding patriotism, and attitudes toward suffrage.

WKSU Stars Lowry Coeds on Campus Personalities show

The Campus Personalities program on WKSU will feature coeds from Lowry hall hosted by public relations director Myron Abood. The show airs at 4 30 p m Nancy Hise with attendants Miriam Mitchell and Marilyn Ohlgren appeared on the prior episode, interviewed by Dave Freed. Charles Kray and Freed will handle Lowry hall presentations.

WSSF Plans New Drive To Aid Foreign Students

The World Student Service Fund headed by Steve Bizic and William Barth will launch a drive on January 16, 1950 to aid college students in war torn lands. Miss Jean Groschupf conducted the planning session with over 40 representatives and a university network of dormitory, fraternity, sorority and off campus volunteers.

Study Reveals 400 Transfers Enrolled Here

A Rotzel study shows nearly 400 transfer students enrolled this fall at Kent State from 43 Ohio colleges and 80 out-of-state institutions. 257 transfers came from Ohio colleges. About 20 states and Canada are represented by 102 out-of-state students. Reasons include location reputation finances course availability and department prominence.

Dorothy Thompson the noted author and journalist is set to speak at the university forum series on Saturday evening February 4 in the university auditorium. The event, under KSU for um committee directed by Prof. James N Holm, will feature her talk These Crucial Days.

UT Drama Cast Named for Family Portrait

Thirty five students will perform Family Portrait December 1 2 and 3 under Prof E Turner Stump. A matinee for 500 visiting high school students from northeastern Ohio is set for December 3 open curtain for scenery changes. Ticket sales start November 28 and cost 60 cents without activity card or university theater membership.

Library to screen Jane Eyre and Les Miserables this fall

The head librarian John B. Nicholson announced two screenings before the fall quarter ends. Jane Eyre will be shown November 30 and Les Miserables on December 14 at 317 McGilvrey. Students must present activity cards at the library desk to receive tickets.
