An eleven person group from Youngstown college visited the university last Friday and confirmed that the paddle offered by Dean of Men Raymond E. Manchester to the winner of the KSU Youngstown game is authentic. The paddle, linked to John Young founder of Youngstown in 1797, was examined for Indian markings and translation by KS history head Dr. A Sellen Roberts and deemed essentially correct.
University graduate students will be photographed this week at Bransby Studio 141 East Main St for a new Chestnut Burr section dedicated to graduates. Studio hours run 1 to 5 p m daily except Wednesday afternoon with possible morning and evening appointments via Bransby by telephone 4134. Men invited to wear dark suit and light shirt women asked for a medium shade dress with plain design and collar. Yearbook portraits require a one dollar sitting fee.
Freshmen are urged to contact Prof. G Harry Wright director of Wes Egan UT technical director in 315K for My Sister Eileen. Set construction make up lighting properties and ushering jobs are open no experience is necessary.
WAKR Akron airs Thursday night Salute to KSU with a studio audience open to presidents or representatives of campus clubs. Contact Dan Dana in the Stater office. Doors close 10 45 pm broadcast from 11 15 pm to midnight. Girls need one o clock permits. Attendees must arrange transportation. Interviews with selected audience members planned.
Social dancing will be held in Wills Gym from 8 30 to 10 15 p m Music by Bob Ferry and his university orchestra Admission is twenty five cents per couple.
Ada V. Hyatt announced a Thursday night program at 8 in Moulton hall music room. Dr. Ralpha W. Dexter of the biology department will discuss Banding of Birds.
All university men excluding freshmen will vote on whether the annual Top Hop should be formal or semi formal. Freshmen will vote in their upcoming elections. If formal is chosen, campus rental will provide tuxedos and accessories except shoes at a reasonable price.
Tryouts for the January University theatre production Antigone proceed today at 4 and 7 p.m. in the radio workshop. Director Muriel Lewis says all university students are eligible and that auditions will continue this week until a cast is chosen. The play is a modern adaptation of Sophocles.
University ex servicewomen will elect officers for the coming year at their regular meeting on Thursday November 20 at 7 30 in the American Legion hall.
Fifty candidates compete across senior junior and sophomore classes for president vice president secretary and treasurer and three student council members. Polls in Atrium balcony open 8 a m to 4 p m. Any campaigning on election day will lead to disqualification.
The Kuder Interest Inventory to indicate a person’s interests and possible occupation may be taken today and tomorrow at 317McG by anyone regularly enrolled in the university. The 45 minute tests locate major areas of interest and aid in planning a vacation. Tests are offered today from 12 until 1 and tomorrow from 3 until 5.
