Kent college debuts its “Nature Boy” Stuart with a coronation at Memorial field during the Kent Mt Union freshmen football game. Bill Brown Leo Damore ride in a horse drawn carriage as sorority pledges guard the event while boosters promote proceeds for athletics.
The Varsity K club will honor Prof Merle Wagoner at halftime during the Kent State Akron game. Wagoner helped create the Varsity K and sparked the Kent State Akron rivalry. The ceremony aims to present Wagoner with a farewell gift as former alumni are invited to attend.
WKSU airs Follow the Gleam at 4 30 today detailing how the Lutheran Student Fellowship raised funds to donate Martin Luther's works to the library last spring. Host Frank Whitley interviews Rosemary Schuster with Ralph Ehrenberg Paul Went ham and Rev Walter G Boss about the project and future plans. Hymns are performed by the 20 voice Christian Radio Choir of the Air directed by Mrs A Laten Carter.
The library explains an earlier error about the film date for Keys of the Kingdom. It will be shown next Wednesday November 16 as part of a program to connect good books with entertainment for students and faculty.
Reports of delegates to the National Society of Scabbard and Blade convention in Pittsburgh will be featured at tonight's meeting of the military honorary's local chapter in 22 SH. The delegates were guests of chapters at Duquesne, Pitt, and Carnegie Tech.
The Nu-K party adds candidates for the sophomore class with Wally Rice listed as junior treasurer and John Stahlman backed for sophomore president. Other offices include Pat Sholle for vice president Flo McNaughton for secretary and Bob Risher for treasurer.
Varsity K men should report to Richard Paskett 15 minutes before kickoff at the refreshment stand near the main gate. They will receive instructions for ceremonies before the game and at halftime.
Kent State and Akron students will dance Saturday night from 9 to 12 in Will Gym to celebrate the winner of the afternoon football game. Don Karol and his orchestra with Leo Damore on vocals provide the music. Admission is $1 per couple, tickets from Booster booth or at the dance. The Wheel of Victory will be presented at intermission by Art Garner and Joe Friedman.
The mathematics department announced an algebra placement test for Monday November 14 at 4 p.m. in room 317 McG. All students planning to take algebra at any time during college careers should take it. For more information contact Dr Arnold or Dr Lowenstein.
President Bowman announced 11 o'clock classes dismissed for Armistice rites at Kent State University. Brig Gen Wayne Smith to speak as KSU units lead a parade through Summit and Water streets to City Hall, with a bomb salute and taps at 10 59 and 11.
Bids for potential fraternity men will be issued at 5 this afternoon and men notified via mail to report to the dean of men's office to sign their bids. Bids due by Monday at 4. From now until November 14 at 4 a silence period is in effect prohibiting fraternities from talking to potential members.
Prof Elmer L Novotny head of the art department will present a portraiture at 7 tonight in room 317 McGilvrey. All art club members are requested to attend at 6 50 when a model will be picked.
Twenty hobbyists from Kent, Ravenna, Cuyahoga Falls and Stow attended a hobby show at the university high school gym sponsored by the Industrial Arts club. Exhibits ranged from brass and old tools to rabbits, weaving, stonework, archery, ceramics, stamps, button collections, miniatures, model trains, model airplanes, artificial flies, precious stones and plastic working.
