Six post entries poured into the Daily States for the eighth annual Rowboat Regatta to be held at Brady Lake park on June 5. Fraternities and sororities submitted two oarsmen per boat with a rule clarification. a regatta picnic and park passes are planned to support Memorial Stadium fund.
More than 50 campus leaders from KSU and the University of Akron met to plan continued friendly cooperation under the theme Ohio's Friendly Rivals. Andrew Slezak of Akron chaired the meeting as the first in a series. Fraternities Alpha Phi Beta Gamma Tau Delta invited Tau Kappa Epsilon and Lone Star for social events. The Friendship Hop and joint homecoming queen hosting were discussed with bands considered.
The Russian Arts club presents a cultural program Tuesday May 25 at 8 p.m. in Moulton hall directed by Prof. Bernard Mikofsky and Audrie Fornshell featuring Russian songs Polish poems and a Ukrainian dance group with English narration. Refreshments follow and tickets are available in 4 South hall 1 to 4 p.m. or from Dorothy Romanovich at 317K 8 to 12 a.m.
Students graduating in June must pay rental fees now at the university bookstore. Gowns are issued on receipt presentation with fittings May 25 to June 4 by receipt number. Fees for bachelor $2.84 and master $3.87, veterans billed through school. May 29 and June 5 reserved for inactive students.
Six Friars club members from Fenn College will appear on WTAM Cleveland Saturday night as part of a Cauldron sponsored campus program. Bob Fuehrer Larry Calby Andy Sliday Ernie Port Hal Clarke and Myron Abood perform Charlie Horse Charlie an original song. A trophy will honor the outstanding campus group judged by radio professionals per Kenny Goldstein.
Second baseman Chuck Gromely homered and collected three other hits in four at bats as Wes Stevens’ nine defeated KSU Canton 13-1. Len Pigot limited KSUC to two hits, a double and a triple, yielding their lone run.
Union meeting scheduled today at 4 p.m. in 213K will discuss senior men banquet plans and seating for new members. All old and new members are urged to attend.
University students and professors will operate the show boat Majestic on a three month tour on the Ohio and Kanawha rivers starting June 7 at Point Pleasant West Virginia. G Harry Wright leads the project backed by 14 student thespians plus nine Hiram college students. The voyage includes Charleston and Cincinnati with performances of Ten Nights in a Barroom and river show traditions revived for a new generation.
Applications are still being accepted for enrollment in an advanced ROTC course announced by Lt Colonel Thomas F Wall. Physical exams by a regular Army doctor from Ft Meade Md will be held at the university dispensary May 24 through May 28. Those who apply and pass are assured of admission with late applicants only if early entrants do not return for the fall quarter.
A championship boxing show is set for next Saturday at 10 45 a m from Radio Workshop studios. Timothy Fuller’s The Lady and the Lion will be broadcast on WAKR, adapted for radio by Robert West and directed by Jim McDonald.
Representatives from all organizations listed for the Campus Day parade and the song contest are to attend a 3 p.m. meeting today in the Student Council office. Roy Newsome, social chairman, announced the call to gathering.
