The eighth annual Rowboat Regatta moves again from Twin Lakes to Brady Lake Park per publicity chair Dan Oana. New site offers better parking and picnic areas. entrants buy boats and swim tests and lifeguards are planned.
Dr Ruth Strang of Columbia University will be guest speaker and consultant for a summer Guidance Conference and Workshop sponsored by the College of Education. The August 26 and 27 event, themed Facing Practical Problems, will cover small school guidance, community resources, occupational information and placement, counseling, and testing programs. Dr D L Arnold, director of guidance testing, says counselors administrators deans and teachers will be invited.
Louis B. Seltzer, editor of the Scripps-Howard Newspapers of Ohio, will address associate members of the American Newspaper Guild tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in 107M. His career began in 1911 as an office boy in Cleveland, then advertising writer for O. S. Hubbell, later reporter at Cleveland News and Cleveland Press, with roles including editor of the Ohio Newspaper Chain since 1937.
Two university faculty members were appointed officers to the Ohio Academy of Science at the University of Toledo Friday. Dean Raymond Manchester was elected vice president of the mathematics section and Prof. Edna E Eisen was elected vice president of the geography section. Dr. James R Beck presented a paper on Geography of Akron.
The Chi Pi To Meet Chi Pi Fraternity will hold its regular weekly meeting today at 4 p.m in 107M, announced by President John Forrest.
The Daily Stater extends birthday wishes to President George A. Bowman on May 11 with hopeful regards for many happy returns.
Fifteen leading authorities in public relations will join the second annual Institute for Public Relations June 15 16 at the university. The conference, sponsored by the school of journalism, lists L E Judd Goodyear director as director with Prof Michael J Radock an executive secretary. Enrollment is capped at 250 directors and executives. Speakers include Averell Broughton D NYC PRSA. Denny Griswold Public Relations News co editor. Lewis P Reese Scio Ohio Pottery president. Dillman M K Smith Opinion Research vice president. Sarah Newmeyer Museum of Modern Art publicity director. Techniques in Employee Relations will feature as a panel.
Noon today is the deadline for group entries in the Parade and Songfest for Campus Day on May 22. Roy Newsome announced the drawing for parade places will be Thursday at 3 p.m. Trophies will honor winning Greek and independent groups. Judges will follow last year’s rules. copies will be issued to entered groups.
Ray McKinley and his popular recording band performed at the university auditorium before a large audience. The show featured solos by trombonist Verne Riley and vocalist Marcy Lutes, with McKinley delivering drum solos and a strong stage presence. The event, co sponsored by Kappa Sigma Chi and WAKR's Alan Freed, raised $155 for the stadium fund and marked a return of big name orchestras to campus.

Twelve contenders for the Kappa Mu fraternity K girl honor were announced during the Lake Forest country club spring formal in Hudson. The K girl will join Campus Day on May 22 for the painting ceremony. Nominees include Laura Jean Wendelken Martha Bissler Dorothy Luck Donna Mae Burkhardt Betty Yount Mary Jane Avril Isla Schnauffer Kathy Scullion Jeannie Kras Audrey Roche Mary Alice Hiller Jeanne Carey.
The college of liberal arts and history department announce summer session schedule changes. Psychology 376 and 484 will be offered in the second semester after being dropped. Speech courses 163 261 in first semester while 161 in second half. History 382 390 dropped. 271 342 482 571 in first half. Second session adds History 360 483 484 572.
Advanced students perform contemporary pieces by Hindemith Bartok Piston and Burrill Phillips at 7:30 p m in 312K. Performers include Raymond DeMattia flute Robert Fields clarinet Charles White bassoon Jo Anne Harvey Robert E Smith and Joan Fiocca piano. Music club meets in 312M one hour before the concert.
Any veteran who served between Sept. 16 1940 and Dec. 31 1946 and never received the Presidential Testimonial certificate can obtain one at the university ROTC office in the Hub. Present suitable discharge or release evidence under honorable conditions.
