Seven Coeds Vie For Queenship at Freshman Assembly

Seven freshman women compete for the title Sweetheart of 43 at a 4 p. m. assembly in the auditorium. Contestants: Marjorie White, Jean Marie Johnson, Mary Kaiser, Lynn Miller, Florence Webb, Cornelia Kuchenbacher, Kay Suits. Dr. K. C. Leebrick will open with a brief address. awards follow for scholarship and activities.

Students Add Radio Views To Forum

For the first time this year students will join the Sunday WTAM forum. Juniors Jane Rothermund and John Powell will discuss The Student's Point of View on Occupation on May 12 from 12 30 to 1 pm with Deans Raymond E Manchester and Mary L Smallwood. The panel will explore how college education prepares one for life’s vocation.

Civilian Pilot Training adds six new private licenses

After government flight tests completed yesterday the Civilian Pilot Training program lists six new private license holders: Donald Dietz George Davis Howard Penn Ray Lasker Bob Neal and Lewis DeWeese. They join nine others from the 40 quota with licenses entitling them to carry passengers.

Five Kent students join Pi Kappa Delta at Baldwin Wallace

Eight BW students hosted a banquet and joint initiation for new members of Pi Kappa Delta on Wednesday at Baldwin Wallace College. The five Kent initiates were Richard McGinnis Opal Wigner Alice O Lickey Tom Rickey and Ivan Immell. Also present were Prof James Holm Ernestine Baumgardner Marjory Jacot and Jewell Hardman along with Akron University chapter members. Marjory Jacot was elected local Pi Kappa Delta president for next year with Jean Culhan as vice president and Jewell Hardman as secretary treasurer.

Picnic grounds ready for use on campus rear area

Bus Hinneman reminded picnickers that the grounds in the rear of the campus are ready for use while remodeling of rooms 211 212 213 and moves of the education office to the second floor of Kent hall and the biology office to 217K continue.

Kent State Grows Fast as Enrollment Reaches Record

Kent State University, founded 1910, reports a new all time high enrollment of 2740 students for 1938-39, up from 2001 in 1936-37. President Leebrick, in office since 1938, seeks American Association of Universities recognition and greater student representation, plus national fraternities and sororities joining campus activities.
