Lack Of Cooperation Closes University Junior Senior Prom

Junior class president Howie Fagan says the annual prom is cancelled due to lack of cooperation and support from committees and low junior class participation. Only 12 of 25 campus reps attended meetings, four declined, and dues collection was weak.

Senior Women Banquet Invitations Sent for May 24

Invitations for the Senior Women's banquet go to graduates of June and August 1951. Only the first 100 respondents may attend due to funds. Priscilla Thompson chairs the committee. The event, sponsored by Women's League, is at 6 p.m. in the Union ballroom with the Senior Womanhood cup awarded. Officers will be installed. Committee members include Doris Hornbeck Loretta Postlethwaite Nancianne Martin Judy Harmon Mary Elaine Long and Roseann Minchak.

Journalists Dinner to Honor Winners at Mayflower Banquet

The annual publications banquet will award trophies medallions keys certificates and plaques. It will be held Friday May 11 at 7 30 p m in the Ohio room of the Mayflower hotel. About 120 journalism students will attend and hear Norman Shaw assistant editor of the Cleveland Press speak. Kenny Nichols Akron Beacon Journal columnist will be master of ceremonies.

Reminder on Draft Test Applications Due May 15

Veteran's Coordinator Benjamin McGinnis reminds male students that May 15 is the deadline to file draft deferment test applications with the draft board. Applications may be picked up in Ravenna. tests on May 26 and June 15 determine eligibility to return to college in the fall.

Job Interview Slots Open This Week At County Office

Students should contact the appointments bureau for interviews this week. Rubber firm representatives will interview accounting salesmanship and chemistry students today in the Atrium. Tomorrow general business industrial management sales writing and vocal music teachers will be considered. Richland county schools will interview teaching candidates on Thursday. Public accountant interviews are set for Friday.

Two Campus Dances Planned For Friday May 11

Two all University dances set for Friday night include Rascal’s Romp by Kappa Sigma at Peninsula club from 9 pm to 1 am and Phi Sigma Kappa Pledge dance in the Union ballroom from 9 pm to midnight The Rascal’s Romp features ticket sales in atrium and at the door and replaces a February cancelation The queen contest during the Phi Sig event lists seven candidates with voting by ticket holders.

Final Week Of Festival Scheduled

The 1951 Arts Festival enters its final week with concerts by the University choir and concert band, a Sharks club water ballet, a home economics fashion show, art demonstrations, and a closing assembly. Highlights include Kent State high school choir and university Mass performances, a Harold Kitner art demonstration, and a Sunday Family Day concert by the University concert band.

Regatta Plans For May 19 At Brady Lake

Regatta schedules tentative for May 19 at Brady Lake pending Publications policy committee approval. Kent State editor and business manager selection will occur, with a faculty student baseball game and a women faculty student tug of war planned. Queen candidates from campus groups, race events for Greek and independent teams, a post race dance, transport caravan, and Chi Pi Lambda Phi concession are noted. Patrick Raleigh and Gloria Donnelly chair the planning.

Dorm Job Open For Hall Counselor Posts

Upperclassmen and graduate students interested in becoming propher hall counselors next year may obtain application blanks in the Dean of Men's office today. Applications are to be returned within two weeks.
