Social Dancing Resumes Tonight for University Students

University social dancing returns tonight after a song fest on Merrill Hall front steps. Aviation men and guests join students for a 6 to 7 p m sing along if weather allows. Curfew set around 9 to 9 30 p m with no gym dancing. Bruce Handley directs music and community singing with health and physical education staff organizing.

Dater to Speak at University Honor Assembly

The honors day committee plans the annual scholarship assembly in the University auditorium next week. Dr. Henry M. Dater will deliver the scholarship address after presenting honor students with a 3.5 or higher accumulative GPA. University President Dr. K C Leebrick will preside. Mrs. Audrey S. Miller of Mt. Lakes New Jersey will become calendar secretary in the president's office after leaving her post at the Portage Ordnance depot. She is the wife of Pvt. Robert Miller stationed here.

Novotny Wins First Place In Canton Art Show

Art professor E Ladislaw Novotny won first prize in the oil division at Canton Art Institute May Show for Habana Frutero. His Side Street Havana earned honorable mention in watercolor. Five works are on display at the institute and three more at the Cleveland Museum May Show.

Variety Attractions Set For Carnival

The Penny Carnival on May 15 features a funhouse fortune teller burlesque show and kissing booth on the midway. Sponsored by Blue Key the event supports Dean Manchester's Penny Drive aiding men in service with ticket sales and booth profits. The burlesque return from last year's Men's Union sponsored carnival adds spice to the lineup.

Buck Privates Top Superiors In Multi-Scored Ball Game

The first all military baseball game at Rockwell field ended with the aviation students beating officers 22 to 3. Players included Nashes, Graybill, Jones, Haney, Kendral, McClelland and Vogelsburg with pitchers Moreland, Jones, Perry and others. Scores sparked debate over correct tally.

Dancing instruction for aviation students kicks off Sunday

Health and physical education dept will offer social dancing for aviation students from 1 30 to 2 30 pm 2 30 to 3 30 EWT under Evangeline Jaffars and Claudine Harris. Class in Kent Hall room 119 for beginners requires at least 15 enrollments and no spectators. Students may sign up on gym bulletin boards.

M. E. Wagoner In Kent On Short Furlough

Sun tan from six weeks of training at Miami Beach, Fla., Lieut Merle Wagoner former University faculty member returned yesterday for a three day furlough. He will leave tomorrow for a Santa Ana Cal army air force base where he will become an instructor. Dr William Wannemacher was the first University professor to join the Santa Ana Air School faculty.

Senior Class Votes 100 Bond To KSU

The University will receive a $100 war bond from the Class of 1943 to fund a bronze plaque replacing the wooden marker for the World War II tree on the front campus. Seniors will cooperate with the Alumni Association and attend the Alumni dinner at the Robin Hood on May 12. Senior Day events are planned for June 12 under committee chair Jean Marie Johnston.
