Easter Assembly Features Reverend Brown Choir in University Auditorium

The university hosts a 10 a.m. Easter service in the auditorium with Rev. Dr. Earl R. Brown from Cleveland as speaker. The program includes two choir selections directed by Joseph Lupkiewicz, Bach’s Crucifixus from the B minor mass and Were You There arranged by H. Burleigh.

Freshman Ruth Erikson Crowned Greek Dance Queen

Miss Ruth Erikson, a Cincinnati freshman, is named the Chestnut Burr Girl of the Year by the Burr staff. The selection follows a staff driven process replacing student vote, with a 26 inch trophy awarded and her photo to be featured in the yearbook.

Final essay deadlineset for Leebrick contest

Registrar H C Stopher issued a deadline warning to students and alumni that the essay contest closes Monday March 30 at noon. Entrants must submit 250 words to the registrar’s office on the topic What We Are Fighting For In This War.

North Xenia Favorites To Cop Class A Playoff

The last four teams in Ohio Class A basketball reach Kent State's Wills gym for two semis. Akron North faces Toledo Central Catholic at 2 p.m. and Xenia Central plays Canton Lehman at 3:15 p.m. The winners meet at 8:15 p.m. for the title. North and Xenia Central are co favorites. Lehman is the underdog.

Hospital Head Named To Health Service

Dr Lena M English director of a Mercer private hospital will succeed Dr Catherine McGregor as resident physician on April 7. Dr A O DeWeese announced the appointment yesterday. She is a Boston University graduate who attended the women’s medical college and did internships at Nellore hospital in India and the School of Tropical Medicine Calcutta. She also studied at Graduate Hospital New York City with specialization in medicine and gynecology.

CPT Examinations Set For Today Tomorrow

New Civilian Pilot Training applicants will be examined today and tomorrow in room 303 Merrill hall. Adrian Van Wyen, director of civil aeronautics, announced the schedule. The office opens Friday 10 to 11 am 1 to 2 pm and 3 to 4 pm and Saturday 10 am to noon.

Seese To Serve As Head Of Regional Conference

Six University students depart Kent for Purdue to attend the regional National Student Federation convention in Lafayette. Bob Seese will again chair the East Central NSFA session, with Peggy Curry Hope Byrne Joe Blair Ed Zink and Don Sinn as delegates. Discussions focus on after the war the conference hosts guest speakers and a Tommy Dorsey dance. Delegates represent colleges in Michigan Illinois Wisconsin Indiana and Ohio.
