Red Beards and Anchor Win MU Beard Contest
In the post war event the Men’s Union beard contest awarded top honors to William H. Heck of Akron for the longest beard and Frank M. Necina of Aurora for best looking crop. Paul I. Bringham of Maple Heights won the most unique trophy with anchor chin whiskers. Additional notable displays included Marty McMahon’s Rex chin design and Bill Cline’s twin green shamrocks.

Burr Dance Featuring Spivak Orchestra Invites Students
The Burr dance will be set to Charlie Spivak and his orchestra with the famous trumpet. The committee says this year’s event will be informal to encourage student attendance.

Sunday APOs Go National Installation at Kent State
Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity installs its Kent State University chapter in the union with National Vice President Daniel Den Uyl of Purdue presiding. The national executive board approved the chapter on March 1. A banquet at Robin Hood follows the ceremony where President George A. Bowman accepts the charter for the university. Fred G. Bloomhardt will accept on behalf of the chapter. The fraternity has 203 chapters nationwide and was founded at Lafayette College in 1925. Membership is limited to those connected with the Boy Scouts. Chapter officers include Richard Barnard president Gene Toot first vice president Edward Stibbe second vice-president Stan Killingsworth treasurer Gene Dotson secretary Murray Campbell sergeant-at-arms Jack Rayment historian.

Frosh Dance Is Tomorrow at Kent State Union
The Sweater Swagger freshman dance runs tomorrow from 7 30 to 11 30 p m in the union ballroom. Tickets are 35 cents per person or 50 cents per couple with no advance sales. Music will be records and chaperones include Mr and Mrs Paul C Kitchin Jr Mr and Mrs Paul Baus and Mr and Mrs Richard Paskert.
