WJW to Broadcast Firefly Monday Night

University theatre will broadcast excerpts from The Firefly on Station WJW Akron from 9 to 9 30 p m Monday March 11 during dress rehearsal. Prof G Harry Wright says the performance will substitute for the usual concert and will feature leading roles the chorus and the orchestra.

Jobs for Teachers More Numerous Says Bureau Head

Dr. Lester H. Munzenmayer, director of teachers placement at Kent State University, reports rising demand for graduate teachers in both elementary and secondary work. He cites 66 percent placement for two year diploma grads and about 80 percent for four year grads, with 60 percent of education degree graduates being women.

Anthony to Speak On War Economics

Dr. Bruce Anthony, associate professor of economics at the University of Southern California, will address the International Relations club at 7:30 this evening in the library on Economic Factors Underlying the Present War. He authored Social and Economic Problems of the Machine Age (1930) and earned advanced degrees at Stanford, teaching at USC for 11 years.

Women’s League follows Cameramen Short Course at Kent

After a morning of lectures, photographers and students in the short course depart for Nela Park at 12 30. Miss Jackie Martin of the Washington Times Herald is the sole woman lecturer, sharing tips on writing and photographing. The session includes a lights demonstration and a discussion on entering competitions.

Fifty women from Ohio colleges converge on Kent State University for a full day of meetings. Peg Suppes leads the program with registration by the dean of women’s office. Activities include campus tours, past and future league projects, an informal tea, and a dinner with speakers on the theme The Woman’s Place in the World of Tomorrow.

Kent State Theater Firefly to Air on WJW Monday

WJW will broadcast excerpts from Kent State University theater production The Firefly at 8 30 pm Monday replacing the usual concert program. The university speech department produced work from campus during the dress rehearsal for the half hour radio segment. Frank Hall Frayser Life magazine editor wired Kent State publicity director George Betts to visit Friday for the Third Annual Short Course in News Photography. The Class B tournament drew 4 005 spectators at Wills gym, one of Northern Ohio’s largest crowds.
