Third Annual Beard-Growing Contest Judging at KSU
At Kansas State University the Third Annual Beard-Growing contest concludes this afternoon with judging at 4 p.m. about 40 to 50 male students vie for trophies for best all around beard and most unique bush. The House of David cup may go to the fraternity with the most bearded members.

Kent State Symphony Orchestra Concert Tomorrow Evening
The Kent State University Symphony Orchestra conducted by Louis P. Kreh will give a concert in the auditorium tomorrow at 8 15. Soloists Frances Stone and Gene Hartzell will perform flute and piano solos from Night Soliloquy and Coro nation Concerto respectively. The 66 piece ensemble will present Oberon Overture Bach Prelude Chorale and Fugue and Nutcracker Suite. Admission is free.

National Architectural Contest Open to KSU Students
The Thle Council of America announces a national design contest for all KSU architecture students. In cooperation with the Beaux Arts Institute of Design, prizes include locally $25 and a national $100. The project calls for an airline bus terminal design and tile usage. Submissions close May 17 with judging May 27 to June 3. Further details available from the architecture department in the Arts building.

Two divorces were granted in Columbus as M Herbert Hoover learned he remained married to Julia Hoover since 1914 while he wed Lois in 1938. In Tokyo a powerful earthquake and tidal waves killed at least 31, injuring hundreds and destroying thousands of homes. American forces are stationed in northern Japan.

WSSI Sponsors Old Shoe Drive
The World Student Service Fund runs a March 11 shoe drive as part of a clothing drive. Students, Boy Scouts, Camp Fire girls and university residents will collect shoes, tie them together, and drop them in boxes.
