Kent State University will host the first annual Institute for the Promotion of Vocational Training for Firemen on April 8 and 9. More than 500 volunteer firefighters from Ohio will attend, learning from instructors tied to national protective and underwriting groups and agencies.

Mann C. Sweet, 23, named ground school instructor for the secondary phase of the civilian Pilot course begun Monday night. He holds a B S in aeronautical engineering and has taught aeronautical mechanics at John Brown University in Siloam Springs Arkansas.
