Campus Style Show Promotes New Look for Spring

Donna Mae Burkhardt previews spring and summer women’s fashions in a campus fashion carnival at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. The event, by Home Economics and Women’s league with Simplicity, features coeds modeling dresses in gingham, jersey, and plaid wool with new hip lines and bright trims.

Yearly Publications Dinner Awards For Sixty Two Students

Sixty two students will receive awards for outstanding work on university publications at a banquet at the Mayflower hotel Akron March 15 at 7 30 p m. Frank Hawkins Pittsburgh Post Gazettes associate editor will speak on Editorial Policy and Its Making. Other speakers include press radio and TV figures. The Lincoln Hackim trophy debuts this year for a Stater sports staff member.

Dr Pearce Fair After Heart Attack

Dr. D W Pearce professor of psychology was taken to City Hospital Akron after a heart attack Friday. His condition was reported as fair. He joined the university in 1923 and retired last year as head of the department but remained as professor.

Junior class dues announced for ball and prom

Junior class dues set at 2 dollars will be collected this week at the Booster club booth. Phil Brystein, class president, announced that the payment includes admission to both the Popularity ball and the Junior-Senior prom.

Kent resident nurse Anne Sawyer joins the infirmary staff at the university clinic per Dr. A O DeWeese the university physician. Sawyer trained at St Elizabeths hospital Youngstown as part of her nursing education.

Col Hutchison British Hero to Speak Here Monday

Col James Hutchison, World War II hero and British MP for Central Glasgow, will address an assembly on Monday March 8 at 11 am. He fought from Dunkirk to North Africa, led Home Guard efforts, and led the Maquis underground in France after D-Day. He wore disguises to evade capture and earned the Legion of Honor, Croix de Guerre, and Distinguished Service Order.

Gressard Likely SC President Amid Blue Star Challenge

John Gressard of the Blue Star party appears set to become Student Council president unless the Blue Star slate disrupts with write-in candidates. Four of six next year hopefuls were Blue Star nominees, with Blue and Gold threatening a full write-in slate. The council also debated committee minutes and postponed a senior replacement election, affecting mid April plans.

UT Comedy Tryouts For Shoemakers' Holiday Continue

Miss Muriel Lewis announces ongoing UT tryouts for the University Theatre production Shoemakers Holiday. The comedy set in Henry V’s era invites all students to audition with performances scheduled today and tomorrow at 4 and 7 p.m. and run on April 14 15 and 16.

Burr queen Charlene Arnold crowned at annual Burr format

Charlene Arnold Burr Queen, a freshman in liberal arts, was named Chestnutt Burr queen Saturday night after a telegram from Perry Como revealed his choice during intermission. Dance chairman Terry Pugliese crowned Miss Arnold as about 250 couples enjoyed the event. Runners up Marilyn Taylor and Jo Douglass received bouquets, as editor Frank Carroll presented roses from the Burr staff.
