AWVS to Sponsor Farewell Frolic Honoring Aviation Students

AWVS arranges the last university social of the quarter at Wills gymnasium from 7 30 to 10 30 p m featuring Manny Weiser and his orchestra. The semi formal event requires long dresses for women and street dress for men not in the armed services with activity tickets for University women not accompanied by an aviation student. Dr. and Mrs. Leebrick and other officials attend. decorations and publicity are organized by campus committees.

Alyce Carr to Give Senior Piano Recital June 7

Alyce Carr senior from Cuyahoga Falls presents a graduation piano recital in the University auditorium at 8 15 p m on Monday. Ruth West mezzo soprano will sing selections from La Favorita Rachmaninoff Hills and more. Carr performs Bach Schubert Brahms and Debussy pieces, highlighting a four year music scholarship and university music involvement.

Housing Lists Available For Summer Residence

University students may obtain summer or fall residence lists at 111B Merrill Hall. Miss Phyllis Pearson, director of residences, announced the availability of vacancies in approved houses by request. A $5 deposit is required to reserve, and students are urged to act promptly.

Student Assembly Receives Penny Drive Donations

About 800 attendees watched checks totaling 515.92 be given to the Penny Drive fund from yesterday's anti-student assembly. Blue Key carnival proceeds 393.47 were handed to Dean Raymond E. Manchester by Art Durivage, with 122.45 from John Proc tor, treasurer of the stock company that staged 80 North Front Street. Entrance receipts added 44.30. Trophies were awarded to Gamma Sigma Phi and Delta Phi Sigma by Art Durivage.

Paulich Wins Manhood Cup at University

Pvt. John Paulich of Jefferson Barracks Missouri was named winner of the Manchester Manhood cup for 1943 at the all-student assembly. He led campus activities as Sigma Tau Gamma member and Art Club president, and served on the gym team before his April induction.

Chestnut Burr unclaimed copies offered at book exchange

University students may claim uncollected Chestnut Burr copies today at the campus book exchange from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Herbert Koehn, future business manager, reported that over 900 of 1200 copies had been distributed by 8 p.m. yesterday.

Four staff shifts announced at the University library include two assistant librarians resigning and two new hires. Jo Ann Hacha Thompson of Cleveland starts June 15 for the summer. Mary Kenward of Hiram begins September 15. Loretta Courtier resigns July 1 and Mary Elizabeth Mautz resigns July 31.

Garnett Returns to Teach in Kent for Summer Session

Dr. Wilma L. Garnett associate professor of English on leave of absence until June 30 visited Kent yesterday en route to Washington DC where she serves as senior specialist in extended school service. She was called home to Iowa City due to her mother’s illness and will resume teaching in the second Kent summer session beginning August 2.

A recorded concert for towns people aviation and University students will be presented in studio A of the Radio workshop Sunday from 1 to 2 p m 2 to 3 EWT Suzanne Schwartz chairman announced Antoinette Zeno secretary to the school of speech will act as hostess at the concert featuring Beethoven Emperor Concerto for piano and orchestra and The Lenore Overture.
