Kent Town Meeting Debates Universal Military Training
A debate on Universal Military Training will be held Tuesday June 8 at 8 p m in the Congregational church. Col Thomas F Wall will defend the affirmative and Prof James N Holm the negative while Prof William L Wannemacher serves as temporary chairman students are invited to attend the meeting the group formed last fall to discuss preventing another war.

Inter American Summer Workshop for Spanish Teachers and Students
A week long summer workshop for Spanish teachers and students will be held at the university from June 21 to 26. Sponsored by the foreign languages department with U.S. Office of Education and Pan American unions, it offers intensive oral training and lectures by Dr. Ernesto Aliaga Suarez on Bolivian education. Exhibits, book collections, and teaching materials will be displayed. Hazel Messimore will direct the workshop with a staff including F. Dewey Amner and others from Kent, Lake Forest Academy and Kent State.

Two Vie For Scholastic Cup
Alpha Phi Beta and Kappa Mu Kappa fraternities tied for first place in scholastic honors among eight fraternities at the university. The United States Marine Corps now allows enlistment by mail to assist ex Marines in distant areas. Campus Organizations Boost Drive for Memorial Stadium Fund
Novelty functions raised 210 dollars for the Memorial Stadium Fund. Beta Gamma sorority led with 100 dollars from an ice cream festival last week. Alpha Xi Delta contributed 80 dollars from a car wash. Wesley Foundation gave 30 dollars from a strawberry shortcake festival.

Hospital Fund Aids Students
The flying club aims to raise money to cover hospital expenses for Miriam Pugh and Richard Johnson, two seniors injured in a May 21 plane crash at the university airport. Pugh’s condition is good and Johnson is improving. Pugh will graduate this month but remain hospitalized for at least six months. Contributions are coming in fairly well according to Prof. Andrew Paton.

Nine Trophies Planned For Eighth Daily Stater Regatta
Regatta entrants compete for nine trophies at Brady Lake park with four rotating awards. The Russ O Conke trophy goes to the sorority winner while the Courier-Tribune trophy honors the winning fraternity. Independent men receive the Getz Brothers trophy and independent women the Fred M Fuller trophy.
