Students swamp SC seek posts on nine committees

Swamped by 65 plus applications for 30 posts, the student council named members to four committees last night. Next Wednesday at 4 pm a special meeting will fill the remaining five committees. The four formed are Social Allocations Entertainment and Assembly committees.

Kent Stater Special Campus Day Issue Scheduled

The Kent Stater will publish a six page Campus Day extra tomorrow June 2 featuring a full page of pictures of campus groups preparing for the float parade songfest and Campus queen ceremonies. It will include round-ups of sports social events scholarships and a complete Campus day senior week schedule. Copies available at distribution boxes.

Freshmen Week Hazing Committee Seeks Mail-Borne Plans

All members and prospective members of the Freshmen Week Hazing Committee are asked to place a self addressed penny postcard in Bill Sitler's mailbox. The postcards will be used to contact members during the summer and to provide final Freshmen week plans.

A 3 p m meeting in room 2050 led by class president Vince Herst precedes Alumni Association dinner June 4 at 5 p m in the Union and a men’s union dinner at 6 30 p m. Convocation Tuesday morning honors grads. Graduation rehearsal follows. June 6 picnic June 7 luncheon June 8 prom. Tickets available at Booster booth. Churchman's Fellowship Grant Offers Scholarships

Applications for the Churchman’s Fellowship prize a $100 scholarship that honors service to the church are available in Miss Regina Hanway’s office. The award, funded by faculty members, requires no race or creed consideration and prefers University attendance. The executive board includes Dr. Munzenmayer Dr. Raup Oscar Ritchie Miss Hanway and Edward Pake. Last year Ruth Bagby of Portsmouth won.

Dean Spicer Leaves KSU for Federal Government Post

Dr John Reed Spicer dean of the college of liberal arts will leave Kent State University at quarter end to take a confidential post with the Federal government in Washington. President Bowman notes a leave of absence may become permanent. Spicer joined Kent in 1946 from Westminster College Pennsylvania where he was dean.

Kent ROTC Rifle Team Places In Hearst Trophy

A Kent ROTC rifle team finished eighth in the William Randolph Hearst Trophy National Matches. Kent entered five teams. the first team placed eighth, ahead of Akron University in ninth. Master Sergeant Andrew Roney coached the squads as one member heads to Korea.

Parade float order set for Campus Day events

The social committee outlines the parade sequence for Campus Day with independent men led by American Commons Club and Stopher Hall, followed by independent women entries and ISA. Firestone Seeks Kent State Students for Interviews

The Firestone Rubber company will interview young men interested in sales next Monday at the Appointments bureau in the Atrium. Individual interviews will follow a 30-minute general meeting. Those seeking more info should contact the bureau and ensure confidential papers are on file for private interviews. The bureau remains open to schedule permanent and summer employment for Kent State students.
