Edited by Jaques Cattell and published by Science Press, the four volume directory honors humanities and social sciences scholars after 11 years of research funded by the American Council of Learned Societies and the Carnegie Corporation.

Art Classes Display In Kent Hall And Gallery
A departmental show opens today featuring first session art classes in the gallery between Kent and Merrill halls and in the Kent hall art classroom. Ladislaw Novotny’s students replace the previous Indian art exhibit with new paintings. The east gallery hosts Art 320 teaching designs for elementary schools led by Miss Mary Boswell with designs drawings and paintings. Prints from the summer graphic arts course appear in rooms 205 and 207. Jewelry from Miss Harriet Adams is shown in room 203. Craft class cases stand in the gallery and an exhibit in room 207 features Art 320. Miss Nina Humphrey presents weaving in room 202.

Women's League Donates 70 Books To University Library
The Women's League added 40 fiction books to the University library, bringing their total donor contribution to 70. Last spring the league gave 30 fiction books, while the library is authorized mainly for reference works.

Paul Bellamy To Speak Here At August 28 Commencement
Paul Bellamy editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer has been invited as guest speaker for the August 28 commencement exercises. About 155 students will receive degrees and Bellamy will be awarded an honorary degree from the University. Senior class officers were elected Dick Kerckhoff president Cynthia Nye vice president Mrs Violet Lange secretary treasurer Ralph Braden gift chair Julia Salem cap and gown chair Jane Shook announcement chair Dean Musselman class adviser. The class voted to present the school with a war bond. Aurilla Lyon chairs the presentation committee. Estelle Swearingin collects class dues.

Registrar E C Stopher announces official enrollment for the second summer term with full registration and fee payment. Classes start Tuesday at 7 30 am and a 1 00 late registration fee applies to those not enrolled by then. Students should leave blue books in Stopher s office with self addressed envelopes for grade forwarding.

East Coast Bikers Visit Kent Hostel Over Weekend
Bill Kress and Bob Moskovitz biked from the East Coast to the Kent American Youth Hostel on Summit Road. The Bridgeport Connecticut men joined other youths in hostel travel to build fitness for wartime work. They planned routes to Cleveland Erie Buffalo and back, praising hostel life despite tire flats and light gear.
