UN Committee Urges Kent Public Action For World Peace

A Kent town meeting at city hall urged public action to prevent another war. Rev. Joseph Henderson led the gathering as subcommittees of students townspeople and faculty were formed to spread the message. A next meeting was set for Tuesday night to discuss policy and resolutions.

The university summer school orchestra will present six chamber works and small ensemble pieces at a single summer concert conducted by Prof. Kenneth Byler. The program includes French operatic dances, Viennese touches, Romanian folk selections, a Mozart Divertimento for five winds, and a modern American work. The concert is free to the public.

More than 200 high school teachers from northeastern Ohio attend the first reading workshop at Kent State University since 1939. Sponsored by KSU and the state department of education, the clinic ends Friday afternoon with final committee reports to be published in a state educational bulletin.

Students Aided Synthetic Rubber Research at Kent State

Students at Kent State University aided the war effort by assisting in synthetic rubber research. GRS-10 production reached about 800 000 tons annually after experiments showed scalable manufacturing. Goodrich officials hailed the campus lab as unique and pivotal to wartime rubber science and future supply.
