Garnett Teaches Reading and Speech to Five Boys

Five boys aged seven to twelve receive private instruction from three graduate students in an English course led by Dr Garnett. Recordings are made before and after the course as two student teachers Barbara Renner and Jean Renner and Sister Monaca oversee a boy each while Garnett guides. All participants volunteered for the program to support the English department initiative.

Army Exhibit Lecture Today In Kent Hall And Gilvary Hall

An army air force educational exhibit will be held in Kent Hall Room 119 from 1 to 3 p m today. The lecture will be in Mc Gilvrey hall with time to be announced. The exhibit shows training equipment for the RAF now donated to non profit educational institutions by the air force. Military staff are former Army Air Forces Training Command instructors. The U S Office of Education urges teachers and civilian educators to witness the demonstration as new training aids and teaching techniques will be shown.

Army air forces chief of news pictures cherishes duty

Lt Stewart Fern writes to President Bowman declaring his post as chief of news pictures for the Pacific army air forces the best duty in the world. He notes his front line duties and frequent personal photography aboard Saipan and the Mariana Islands. Fern now in Honolulu recounts meetings with Merle Wagoner William Wannamacher Les Moreto and Kent Kennan among others.

Music on Tap For Monday by Graduate Chorus

A graduate student chorus under Harold E. Miles will perform a program of European music. Italian pieces feature soprano Dorothea Eichenlaub and baritone William Evans. Balkans piano works by Bartok and Kodaly are included, with Spanish songs by De Falla and French excerpts from King David.

Bruno Santone Attends Duke For Education Work

Bruno Gregory Santone a 1944 summer graduate of Kent is in graduate study at Duke University this summer in elementary education. He taught for two years in Warren prior to his Duke work.

Seniors Elect Zaremba Class President At College

Lou Zaremba elected president of the senior class in the college of education at the university. Ruth Wilms and Anita Albu chosen as vice president and secretary treasurer, with Jane Galloway La Faye named historian. A July 16 meeting at 3 30 p m for all seniors will select committees and discuss clues and other features.

Three KSA men reported killed in service in Europe

Captain Edward B. LeRoy of Akron killed near Kassel Germany while leading men to battle and awarded the Silver Star. Vincent Russell Brown of Mentor Ohio drowned when a prisoner ship was sunk off the China Coast October 24 1944. T Sgt Andrew K Thellman of Canton wounded in France November 26 died December 3 in a military hospital.

Kent State Alumnus Sees War Duty Pause on Campus

A Kent State University alumnus, Sgt Berg, returned to campus on a 30 day furlough before heading to the Pacific. An instrument specialist and B 29 mechanic, he has served since January 1942 with postings in nine states and a two month visit to Batista Field Cuba near Havana University.
