Summer Musicals Open With Walden String Quartet
The Walden String Quartet from Cornell University opens the summer music series Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. in the auditorium. The schedule includes a July 19 clinic band concert and a July 22 chorus and orchestra program featuring Haydn The Creation and Beethoven Choral Fantasia. Jeanne Cook a university junior and AAUW Kent Ravenna exchange scholar winner faced multiple setbacks on her trip to Mexico City. After days of seeking plane reservations from Akron she fled to Dallas where her sister and brother in law tried to help. A burglary left her without several clothes and a broken watch. A hail storm delayed the flight two hours and she became ill upon landing. She aims to study at the National University of Mexico with plans to secure a room in Mexico City.
