Harsh resigns Kent State high post for Hiram College faculty
Frank N. Harsh, after 21 years as principal of Kent State high, resigns to join Hiram College as professor and head of education and psychology. He will start September 17 and has served in numerous roles including district scholarship organizer and northeastern Ohio basketball tournament manager.

Kent State Hosts Annual Band Clinic With Champion Twirler
Kent State University announces its second annual band clinic from July 8 to 19 featuring drum major classes led by Mary Evelyn Thurman of Clarence Missouri. Thurman, a national and international champion, was grand prize winner at the 1941 Chicago Music Festival and has four national high school drum major titles. Drums majors and baton twirlers from high school and college will receive daily instruction from an expert, per clinic director Prof Roy D Metcalf.

Six Women Win Four-Year University Scholarships

Handwoven Textiles Exhibit Planned For July 9
A collection of handwoven textiles will be shown Tuesday July 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. in room 203K. Sponsored by Prof. Nina Humphrey art school head and her weaving class Art 477. The display includes linsey woolsey paisley shawl textiles stitchery from Italy and Czechoslovakia and a table cloth 100 years old.

Davey Tree Volunteers Trim Campus Limbs
Davey Tree Expert Company sends 30 volunteers to campus for tree trimming. Foreman M. R. Wilkinson says the crew, averaging 21 years old from Missouri and Arkansas, will work about a month more and move to Engleman woods then tennis court and Rockwell field areas. They wear grey uniforms and protect themselves with long boots while handling large trees and sprays.

Joseph D. Kelly a 1933 Akron graduate was elected president of the university alumni association at the annual banquet. University Cafeteria Schedule Change
The university cafeteria will close tomorrow and every weekend for the rest of the session. The dining hall will operate on Mondays through Saturdays during the second session.
Kent State Receives 288652 For Student Housing
The Ohio State Legislature approved emergency funds totaling 288 652 to Kent State University and six state universities to house about 150 more students this fall. Of the amount 85 500 funds temporary housing units, 161 405 covers salaries, 34 247 maintenance, and 93 000 betterments including 7 500 to fence the football field. The Canton division will open this fall for daytime classes handling 500 plus students and a Toronto division is discussed to serve Wellsville Mingo Junction East Liverpool and Steubenville students.
