New Trophy Added as Beard Contest Returns

The University of Missouri beard contest adds a fourth cup for the largest percent of membership in a recognized student club or fraternity. Winners will be revealed at an Oldtimers dance in Wills Gym on March 8.

Shelly States Rushing Rules

Inter-Faternity Council President Guy Shelley outlines rushing requirements for men. Eligible candidates must have a 2.0 cumulative average and 10 quarter hours to pledge, with no first quarter freshmen or transfers. Signing the dean of men's office list costs one dollar and lasts a year or until pledging, with Feb 1 deadline. 137 men remain eligible. IFC remains final authority on irregularities.

Opera star Mary Garden to lecture at 11

Eminent operatic actress Mary Garden will lecture in the auditorium at 11 this morning under the assembly committee sponsor. She will share anecdotes from her career and will also audition four university music students giving professional evaluations.

UT Formal Next Saturday

The annual UT formal will be held Saturday Feb. 3 in the Union ballroom from 9 to 11 p m. The dance is free to UT members and guests. Membership cards available at the Speech office. Music by Bob Nezbeth and dress will be semi formal. Jo Leguillon and Bill Feaster in charge of entertainment by faculty members.

Senior Dues Paid at Booster Booth This Week

Senior class members are requested to pay dues of 1.25 dollars at the Booster booth. The booth will be open today and throughout the coming week, according to John Ballenger, the senior class president.

Elections Petitions Due Noon For Student Races

Petitions for candidate runs in the February 6 student elections must be submitted at the Booster booth before noon today. Harry Moldovan, elections committee chairman, says petitions require signatures from 10 percent of all eligible voters. Vacancies on the Student council and Men's union will be filled and Miss Kent State will be chosen by student vote.

Ex Coed Sues Auto Firm Over $25,000 Dental Injury

Former Kent State student Coletta F. Vance of Cuyahoga Falls sues Barberton Motor Sales in Akron court for damages after a April 1 1949 crash that knocked out three teeth. She alleges fault by driver John Shaver while defense cites her dental history and injuries including unconsciousness and a wrenched shoulder. The case features engagement to Robert M. Brickner and a May Queen candidacy at Cuyahoga Falls High School.
