Males at KSU Face Hair Raising Contest Start
The third annual beard growing contest begins Monday with all University men urged to sign up. Judges include Tony Emanuel Don McCafferty and Paul C Kitchin as contestants register clean shaven with a ten cent fee donated to the Kent Stater Penny fund.

Hal McIntyre to headline Top Hop at Wills Gym
Hal McIntyre and his nationally known orchestra join Miss Kent State and two attendants at the Top Hop in Wills gym on February 9. The semi formal event, sponsored by the University Social committee, costs 50 cents per person and runs 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Miss Kent State must apply by Monday 4 p.m. with photo and academic records. finalists are announced February 5 and the winner is revealed at intermission.

Petitions Due Noon for Special Election in Union Room 204
The Elections committee sets a strict noon deadline today for all petitions for the special election. Petitions must be submitted between 11 a.m. and noon in Room 204 Union and must be signed by the candidate.
Music Groups To Meet Here For Ohio Festival
Approximately 130 high school musicians from nine counties and 35 schools will take part in an Ohio Music Education Association district semi final orchestra festival here next Saturday. The event precedes the all state contest at Otterbein College on February 22. A public concert at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium will close the festival with each number conducted by a different director. The program includes Cimarosa Three Brother Overture, Dvorak Slavonic Dance, a Mozart suite and two Bach airs. Louis P. Erch of Kansas State University chairs the district festival.

Council Action Might Curb Campus Corridor Congestion
The council may ease congestion between Kent and Merrill halls by asking students to stop congregating. Fraternities and sororities with frequent violators could face action. Miss Avis Pinney urged the measure and noted delays in class access. The council also decided the junior class is responsible for buying trophies for Most Popular Man and Woman, but funds were lacking last year, leaving awards untold.

Campus Allocations Trim Funds Across Eighteen Groups
Eighteen campus organizations asked for 31506 but allocations committee approved 26450 after three hours of review. Largest grants went to varsity athletics 7670.50 Chestnut Burr 6326.42 and The Kent Stater 5652. Yearbook received 5025.50, States 4962.80, while Council faced a drastic cut to 529 from 1073 proposed.
