Beard Growing Contest returns to Kent State campus

Kent State students will grow beards for six weeks starting Monday to benefit the Stater Penny fund. More than 250 men entered last year, with registrations at Kent Hall Atrium Tuesday through Thursday. Judging on March 9 at Wills Gym will award three trophies and a free shave to winners.

University Arts Festival dates set for 1951

April 16 to 30 mark the second annual University Arts festival announced by festival chair E Turner Stump. Maurice Baum will open with an auditorium address. The two week schedule includes a modern dance program, synchronized swimming, industrial arts exhibits, theatre, dramatic recital by Charles Kray, and art demonstrations.

Munzenmayer to Lead Portage Red Cross Drive 1951

Dr Lester H Munzenmayer director of appointments will head the Portage county Red Cross drive for 1951 announced by Dr Donald Anthony of the University and county chapter. The local drive begins March 1 aligned with the national Red Cross campaign and Munzenmayer urges mobilization of resources and community support.

Voters Sign-up Opens for Feb 6 Elections at Kent State

Students may register today and tomorrow at the Booster booth from 10 am to noon and 2 pm to 4 pm. Petitions for student offices require signatures from ten percent of eligible voters and must be submitted by Friday noon. Ballot selections include Miss Kent State and student council and union positions.

The Independent Students association will host weekly square dances each Wednesday from 7 30 to 10 p m in 119K at the Union ballroom Don Rand will call the dances open to all University students.

Penny Carnival Date Moved Up to February 24

Penny Carnival will be held February 24 in Will s gym to balance the winter and spring schedules. Co chairmen Rae Jean Becker and Dick Rice announced the change with Cardinal Key and Blue Key aiding. Applications for group participation will be available February 12 in the dean of men's office.

Forum Plans Guest Lecture by Dr. Oliver

Dr. Robert T. Oliver author of Why War Came in Korea will speak at the University forum on Wednesday evening February 1. Oliver is educator editor and former lecturer at the University of Korea in 1946 and advisor to Dr. Syngman Rhee. Topic not yet announced.
