Kent Debating Teams Win Big in Separate Tours

Kent’s men and women claimed first and second place respectively in two weekend tournaments. The men beat eight of 12 debates, facing 19 teams at Capitol University in Columbus. the women, eight rounds and six wins, faced 21 teams at Mount Mercy College in Pittsburgh. The topics were The Nationalization of Basic Industries.

Twirl Twirl Dance Supports Heart Fund

All proceeds from the university dance Twirl Twirl going to the 1950 Heart fund. Men must be weighed at a table between Kent hall and the atrium to determine admission prices from 90 cents to 1.22 dollars. those under 100 and over 250 pounds admitted free. Bill Andrie orchestra provides music. university women receive 12 30 a.m. permits.

Penny carnival entries open for Wills gym event

Penny carnival entries are accepted until 2 p.m. tomorrow announced Terry Atkinson. All fraternities sororities and independent groups may enter. The carnival will be held in Wills gym on Friday March 31.

Programs Due Must Be Returned Today

Dr. C E Atkinson registrar urges return of all trial programs to the registrar’s office today. Completion dates for registration including large white program cards have not been announced.

Two Seniors Suspended Indefinitely by University

University president George A. Bowman announced the suspension of two New Jersey seniors Kev in J. Dahl and Albert T. Carragher after their arrest in Akron on auto theft suspicions. They received a suspended $50 fine and 30 days from Municipal Judge William H. Victor, with six months readmission ban.

University Trustee Joseph Hanan Dies in Florida

Joseph B. Hanan vice president of the university board of trustees died in Winterhaven Florida after a cerebral hemorrhage at 61 He vacationed there with his wife for three months and wrote President Bowman that they were in good health He had served on the board since 1935 and was a former president of the board He retired as staff superintendent of the B F Goodrich industrial products division in 1947 Survived by wife daughter Mrs R B McCurdy Akron and three grandchildren Funeral arrangements are handled by S C Bissler and Sons Inc Kent

Freed MC's Burr Dance in Akron With Alan Freed

Three Prefs Talk Tonight on Atomic Age Problems

Three sociology professors Dr. James T. Laing Dr. Paul M. Houser and Dr. James E. Fleming will present a panel on Problems of Social Change in the Atomic Age in 317McG at 8 p.m. The seventh talk in the social science series is open to the public at no charge. The final lecture of the social science program by Paul G. Kitchin will follow Thursday in 317McG on International Control of Atomic Energy.

The library sponsors a viewing of Miracle on 34th Street at 317 McG tomorrow evening with two showings at 6 and 8 15 p.m. Tickets are available at the library checking desk today and tomorrow.
