Akron Wins Buckeye Debate Tournament Title
Akron university captured first place in the eighth Buckeye debate, with Heidelberg second and Kent third. Akron went 8–0 on the nationalization of basic non agricultural industries with two Kent squads and teams from 27 schools across Michigan Ohio and Pennsylvania. First affirmative were Charles Goetzinger and Tom McManus, while Geraldine Carroll and Bette Cosetti formed the second. First negative team included Eugene Berrodin and John Gallagher. Josephine Vallelonga and Jane Klee composed the second negative.

Gamma Phi Beta sorority received two UT trophies at the university theater for selling the most UT membership cards and achieving 100 percent UT membership. Alpha Chi Omega also earned a trophy for full UT membership. Tryouts for the next university theatre production School for Husbands occur today and tomorrow in the speech office with multiple time slots.

Scottish Debaters Visit Campus for Welfare State Debate
A Scottish team from Edinburgh and Glasgow argues liberty is threatened or not by the welfare state in a debate February 24 at the campus. Malcolm Webster Lowell and Geraldine Carroll advocate the affirmative while David Reid and Arthur Campfield present the negative. The event is arranged with the Institute of International Education and open to the public.

History Course Lets Kent State Students Tour Mexico
International News Service notes a new upperclassmen graduate history course at Kent State University titled A Field Trip in Latin American History. Date Change Announced for Penny Carnival
Penny carnival date moved from April 7 to March 31. Terry Atkinson, chair man of the Blue Key committee, said applications for the carnival may be obtained from him at week’s end. The event in Wills gym funds needy organizations and worth causes, co sponsored by Cardinal Key and Blue Key. Blue Key members include Bob Phillips and Tom Drouillard.
