Kentucky author and poet Jesse Stuart, famed for Man With a Bull Tongue Plow, will speak Monday. Dona Mae Burkhardt will introduce him. classes will be excused but attendance taken. Stuart rose from Greenup county to national recognition and served in the navy during the war.
At the freshman meeting Tuesday class president Frank Vendely urged collecting the class dues to cover the freshman share of Popularity Ball expenses. Freshmen who have not paid will not be admitted to the ball. The class voted another mixer and an admission fee of 10 cents.
Transportation is needed for choir members who will sing in Denton on Sunday afternoon February 17. Students with cars should contact Director Caro Carapet yan or choir members Grace Mc Clary or Phoebe Steiner promptly.
Editor Julie Juch waits for Sonny Tufts to name one of 58 university applicants as Burr Queen. She warns she will telegram if no letter arrives by tomorrow morning and notes the fateful envelope will reveal the winner at the Burr dance tomorrow night.
Professor and Mrs. Carapetyan will guest soloists with a 49 voice women’s choir in a series of concerts. They perform at Kent Congregational Church February 10 at 4 30 p m, broadcast February 17 on WHBC Canton, and at Lowell Reformed Church at 8 p m. Mrs Carapetyan opens with a 17th century organ canon. Mr Carapetyan sings three Russian numbers and the aria from Haydn’s Creation. The second half features the choir and Carapetyan’s Myself Through Thee.
K Vets drop campus election plans choosing to back the best candidate from any party for the spring council race. Veterans plan five permanent committees and seek broader enrollment. a platform vote is set for February 23.

Assistant Professor Alyce Hawk leaves Kent State University with plans to serve as secretary to the director of the Frankfurt camp for displaced persons in Germany. She joined Kent State in 1944 after teaching at Stephens College and completing graduate work in Paraguay.
Final tryouts for the all student musical No Time for Classes will be held today from 4 to 6 pm in Room 119 Kent Hall. Producer Marshall Friedland and co-director Dave Ryan report low turnout and seek loists dancers and acts. special tryouts can be arranged Monday for those unable to attend.
The fifth annual short course in news photography postpones the model contest to allow coverage by a national news reel company. Moulton hall ballroom will host judging with pianist Ricardo Gomez providing the music. Crowell invites interested KSA coeds to apply at the journalism office for filming and future stage presence training.
Jim Bullock presents a comedy about a returning serviceman and a door to door sales job. The radio workshop broadcast tomorrow at 11 45 a m features coeds Betty Cibula Felice Faust and Arlene Riggle and voices Fred Baker Harold Kelsey Joe Howard and Charles Hoover. Wanda Lashley and Virginia Black handle sound effects.
