Dr. Harry D. Wolfe will address Gruen Watch Company salesmen in Cincinnati on January 7. He will present Akron survey results on watch buying habits to aid jewelers in planning advertising and display programs for gift buyers.
Preliminary students in the civ ilan pilots training course will take final examinations tonight for private pilot certificates. Adrian Van Wyen, the instructor, announced the plan. Students who pass the written program will receive their license after a flight test.
Two and three o clock classes this afternoon will be serenaded by Cardinal Key women as they carol through University halls. Thirteen members of the national service honorary will meet shortly after 2 in the Kent States office and start from there. Jane Rothermund and Pauline Johnston are in charge of arrangements. Carolers include Miss Rothermund Miss Johnston Martha Rufener Jane Stroup Dorothy Hostetler Berta Kernen Kay Maloney Lillian Kochenderfer Francis Smith Janet Foltz Jeanne Claypool Aileen Milligan and Betty Crampton. This is the first time the six newly inducted members have actively participated with the group.
University students with Boy Scout experience form a Scouter's group to aid local troops and provide campus service. George J. Altmann, health and physical education professor, said the plan aligns with Alpha Phi Omega. He chairs the Kent district leadership committee with E. W. Tischendorf, Harry Allen, and Harold P. Rogers as members. President K. C. Leebrick leads the Akron area leadership committee.
The Proxy extends holiday wishes to students faculty and university community for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 1941. He hopes the vacation renews everyone whether at home or traveling and strengthens dedication to responsibilities and opportunities in the new year.
Tri Sigma sorority hosts a year end dance in Akron University club from 9 to 1 tonight with Don Yeager orchestra. Decorations feature red and green, pine cones, holly and candles. Reita Mehlenbacher leads, Peg Suppes decorates, Gene Gilcrest handles programs. Dale Rooks will photograph.
Announcement says junior portraits for the Chestnut Burr will be taken today but 100 juniors have not appeared. Students are urged to report to 1183 Merrill after 1 p.m.
Flashes host a doublebasketball night at Wills gym with over 2,500 fans expected. Bowling Green meets Akron at 7 30 and Kent faces Baldwin Wallace at 8 30. Bereans open season with Bee Gee and Zippers as rivals and Kent's visit intensifies fan interest. Rosters include Price Connor Andreas Hein and Gulgin under coach Rosy Starn.
The national Blue Key bi annual meeting moves from Kent to Kansas City Missouri, scheduled December 27 and 28. Kent was chosen by 82 active chapters after efforts by Woody Barkett and Roger Wicks at Butler University. A Kent postponement to April prompted the national organization to approve the Kansas City site.
